Recommended Daily Calories

The energy that is found in food is measured in calories. Calories actually give the body important energy, that without them the body would not be able to function efficiently. It is important that we maintain a healthy balanced diet to ensure full body health.

Recommended daily intake

The recommended daily allowance of calories actually depends on the person. For example athletes obviously need consume more calories than those who don’t really get much exercise. The recommended daily intake for a woman who is healthy is about 2,000. For man it is about 2,500 with the maximum being 2,800. These are the requirements as outlined by the Food and Drug Administration.


Consuming a large amount of fat can be very dangerous for the health. Contrary to popular belief however, fats must be included in the diet. The protect the essential organs and they have the role of absorbing vital minerals and vitamins into the blood stream. You should aim to consume no more than 20 to 30 percent of fat throughout the day, in relation to you overall food intake. Someone who consumes 2,000 calories in a day should not be taking in more than 78 f of fat. These figures are outlined by the American Heart Association.


Taking in a high amount of calories in on daily basis especially without remaining active can cause obesity. It can increase the chances of you getting heart problems and diabetes.

For those who want to lose weight, the recommended calories are 11 calories per pound daily. This is a usefull hub. Too many people trying to lose weight don't realize that they still need to eat.
