There are several health benefits of red wine which is an antioxidant. Red wine contains substance called resveratrol which is highly beneficial for health. Red wine is an alcoholic beverage. Antioxidants have anti-aging properties. Drinking red wine in moderation is good both for the physical and mental health. Red wine promotes weight loss. Other health benefits of include prevention of heart disease and stroke. It helps to reduce stress, improve digestion and the immune system.

Resveratrol is a polyphenol and is beneficial to the heart. It is present in several plants and fruits including red grapes, peanuts, mulberries, blueberries and eucalyptus. The quantity of resveratrol increases in the wine the longer it is fermented. Resveratrol is a blood thinner and lowers blood cholesterol. It helps to prevent the clogging of the arteries and heart attack. Resveratrol inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells. It is also good for diabetes as it provides protection against the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Polyphenols can help to control blood glucose levels and prevent dangerous dips.
