Sore throats are never any fun. When one comes on, you may find yourself searching for a quick remedy for a sore throat. Before you can seek a remedy, it is important to understand what the cause is. Causes can range from a variety of culprits such as stress, viruses, fatigue, allergies, overuse of the vocal chords, dry air or bacterial infections. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne to a glass of water. If you can handle spicy food, you can add cayenne to broth and swallow it instead of just gargling with it. These naturopathic remedies will shorten the duration of viruses. Astragalus and Echinacea are used to boost the immune system. Echinacea helps boost the immune system by stimulating white blood cell production. Echinacea can also purge the system of infiltrates. Due to its purging properties, no other drugs should be taken within an hour of taking Echinacea, or you are likely to purge the medication without the benefit of ingesting the drug. Astragalus is an incredible herb in itself. It will help the body guard against the effects of stress. Sore throats can be caused by stress to the body. Stress can be brought on by stressful situations, exercise, not enough sleep and the body dealing with the stress of viruses. This is particularly good when the culprit is from dry air being continually breathed in. This can be especially true during the winter when the cold air can be dry and crisp or when the heater is on at night and you are sleeping.
