Updated on April 13, 2012

Why smoking? this is a common question that usually ask for smoking people. Culture of smoking has influence teenager right now. This is as a reason to get friend. And kind of facilities in society or community. Obviously it was wrong. There are many positive activities to get friends, including the following extracurricular school, study club or another positive activities. This is a big problem for younger or teenager. They try to smoke a little by little. This is the sign of addiction. As a young person, they are very easy to accept invitations. With solidarity or society reason. Maybe some of them difficult to refuse the invitation.

Sorry, I don't like smoking

As a teacher I am very concerned about the current conditions. Many teenagers try to smoke. And it looks common things. Why do they act like that? Sometimes as parents we educate them well at home. but we do not know the condition of our children outside. Therefore, religious and social control have instilled early. To avoid the things that we don't want it happen to our children. Spirituality have a big role to create good habit. As a parents we have to give a spiritual motivation to our teenager, I believe when they have good spirituality they will think twice doing bad things. Better to create spiritual environment at home. Like going to church together for Christian or going to Mosque for Muslim.

At least they know which is good and what is bad. Education also has a big role in affects their minds. Health education such as the dangers of smoking and the consequences that would arise if smoking. Kind of education will give an overview to them to think twice before doing bad things. This can be found at the school. Education give a big portion to manage teenager from bad habit or bad influences. .

Don't do this!

There are several solution about the effectively and politely to refuse friends invitation in smoking. the solutions like :

  • Avoid hanging out with friends who smoke, try to give a reason to refuse the invitation in hanging out.
  • Don't afraid to express your feeling that you are not smoking, and you really don't like doing it.
  • Expand information about the dangers of smoking. I think we know many information toldĀ  that there were many disease caused by smoking. I am not explain in this hub,
  • Convince yourself that smoking is not a tool to get friend.
  • Avoid all of the things that support in smoking, like t-shirts, hats, posters or advertisement by the tobacco industry.
