Secret potions for happiness
As an experienced professional aromatherapist of 20 years I am able to recommend specific pure essential oils to improve ones' state of mind.
Many people experience depressive moods in their life,but people in general are reluctant to seek help mainly due to the fact that they don't want to be labeled with a mental health disorder and they feel that they have failed within themselves in some way.
Depression can be regarded as an invisible mental disorder and there are many reasons responsible for its onset. Often for women in general, hormonal factors play a big part i.e.
- PMT and hormonal imbalance
For other people the following situations may be a trigger to a depressive episode:
- Loss of income
- Loss of job
- Abuse (mental/physical) Low self esteem issues
- Work overload
Anxiety/Panic attacks/Feeling Stressed
The best uplifting pure essential oils are:
Bergamot Clary-sage Geranium Lavender Neroli Jasmine Ylang ylang
Uses: Bergamot is a well known property in herbal drinks i.e. Earl Grey Tea
but it can be combined with any of the above aromatherapy oils and used either in inhalations or mixed with a vegetable carrier oil e.g.
10ml of carrier oil / 4 drops of essential oil for massage use.
6 drops in a bath, soak for 10-20 minutes.
3 drops in hot water on a fragrance burner, replenish when evaporated.
A few drops on a tissue and inhale.
A combination of three essential oils work best e.g.
Bergamot (top/middle note) 2drops
Lavender (middle note) 1drop
Ylang ylang (middle/base note) 1drop
The above oils are then blended with 10ml vegetable carrier oil (Do not use mineral oil )
Caution: Bergamot can make the skin more sensitive to Ultraviolet light, avoid exposure to the sun and avoid sun beds after use for 24hrs.
It is important to eat a balanced diet.Foods rich in vitamin B can be beneficial and taking vitB6 complex supplement vitamins.
Herbal tincture of St.John's Wort (If you are taking medication,check with your G.P. and do not take if planning pregnancy or are pregnant.)
