Sometimes life is hopeless, helpless without an end to the cycle

Sadness-fear-helpless

I awoke one morning feeling like the world of happiness (for me anyway) had completely ended and all I had left was sadness, fear, and a sense of helplessness. I wrote the poem below to reflect those feelings and to break me out of my saddened mood. It helped me to rise above the feelings of sadness and realize that I am not alone. It also helped me to face the cold days and nights with strength and grace. I hope it helps someone out there in their loneliness as well.

And suddenly everything is covered in a cold wet sadness.

A sad poem about life

Alone and frightened, sad and lonely

Fearing the next step will end badly

Giving my all and getting nothing back

Taking a moment to see what I lack

Was I the one who failed to give

All of the things one needs to live

Or was it just that I couldn’t see

All of the things I needed to be

No mater the cause, I’m here alone

No matter the reason or things that were done

I sadly face the next step of life

Without comfort, filled with strife

Are the words true? Are we alone?

As life goes on and we can’t stop the count of days, I sometimes feel that nothing is right. Nothing goes the way I planned it and nothing happy comes my way. No matter how hard I work, struggle, fight, or plan, there is always that one day when everything goes wrong and it seems there will never be another happy day. If you or someone you know has experienced this same feeling of helplessness and hopelessness, add your thoughts here for all of us to share. Maybe, just maybe, then we can see that we are all in this together and we are definitely not alone!

I feel badly that you are so sad. I know life is pretty challenging at times. I have been through many of these cycles..but they pass and life returns. To me waking up and feeling good and having a wonderful husband makes me happy..Believe me I have my issues in life as well. Try to find something that puts a smile on your face. I will have good thoughts for you.

I am pretty sure we all feel that way at times. I'm sorry for your pain and I hope things are better now. I do know that for me, writing about my feelings and sharing them with someone else has always helped. Wishing you peace and happiness today and always.

carol7777 & billybuc, I thank you so very much for your warm comments and thoughts of peace and happiness. I was hoping that sharing my thoughts and feelings when I was so down would help me climb above the helplessness sensation and it did. Thank you so much for the help!

I believe that your thkiinng here: It doesn’t matter so much where the pain is coming from or what caused the pain. It is clearly what we choose to do with these experiences that matters, is the best thing anyone can use to live the fullest and best life.It allows us to be more loving, generous, and productive than dwelling in the past. Dwelling in the negative past paralyzes us. One of the most important things I share with my friends is that none of us can change one millisecond of the past, so what possible good can come of feelings of guilt, resentment and thoughts of revenge? Focus on the good, find any possible beauty in the present, help others, and love life with all of your powers. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life, right?Catherine, thank you for your good thoughts.Best regards,DavidNew York City

You are so right about focusing on the past. I recently attended a group focused on that very thing. Thank you for the encouragement!
