Sujok Therapy For Insomnia And Health

About Sujok Therapy

Sujok therapy is an alternate therapy system of treatment to heal disease by stimulating certain pain points in the hands and feet with the combined use of acupuncture, finger pressure or a simple probe like a blunt needle, ball point pen or any blunt instrument.

Prof. Park Jae Woo, a Korean, developed this alternate healing therapy.

In Sujok,

  • Su means hand
  • Jok means feet

Thus, Sujok means treatment based on hand and feet. Sujok is a drugless, safe and side effects free system of treatment. It can be learnt easily both for self treatment and treating others.

The Correspondence Systems

The entire system of sujok therapy hinges on the fact that our entire body is represented on a smaller scale in the hands and feet which are the mirror images of the entire body.

According to the hand and foot acupuncture principle, similar bodies have correspondence reactions that work similarly.

There are various correspondence systems in the body. The correspondence systems are located on each and every independent part of the body like the hands, feet, ears, head, tongue, internal organs, etc.

These correspondence systems exchange information about the working of each and every body organ and part. This means that information about the condition of each and every organ, is being received by and transmitted to, all the correspondence systems.

Each correspondence system is a reduced replica of the human body and all the organs and the body parts are reflected in each of the correspondence system. Areas or zones belonging to particular body organs are called correspondence zones. Therefore, each body organ or part, has its own correspondence zone, in all the correspondence systems.
Take the example of stomach. It has correspondence zones on the ears, eyes, feet and all the other correspondence systems.

Very simply, it can be stated that, all organs and body parts are represented on a smaller scale on specific locations or points on the hands, feet, ears, head and all the other correspondence systems.

A Very good Explanation Of Sujok Points

Another Good Explanation Of Sujok Points

Information about the health of body organs and body parts is being continuously exchanged between all the correspondence systems.

When disease strikes any organ, this information is sent to all the correspondence systems. The correspondence systems react and in the correspondence zones belonging to the diseased organ, one or more pain points are developed. These pain points are minute spheric formations that cause pain when pressed.

When these pain points are pressed or stimulated the body sends healing impulses, from all the different correspondence systems, to the diseased organ. These impulses fight the disease and restore the state of health of that organ.

As these correspondence systems and correspondence zones exist in the hands and feet in a major way.
Thus, our hands and feet constitute the Main correspondence system.

Similarly, on each toe and finger the entire body is represented separately again.
This is the Insect correspondence system.

Due to our daily activities like walking and working with our hands healing impulses are being generated constantly but erratically and sent to the various organs and body parts which keeps them healthy and therefore, activity acts as a preventive measure correcting minor disturbances in health. But these impulses are not generated when we lead a sedentary life or may be not be as powerful in intensity so as to heal a severe disease.

In such cases, there is need to develop powerful healing impulses and this can only be done by stimulating by stimulating the pain points in the related correspondence systems.

It has been found through experience that the healing impulses generated by stimulating the pain points in the Main correspondence system located in the hands and feet are the most powerful.

Hence, Sujok therapy is developed on the correspondence systems located on the hands and feet.

2 Levels Of Sujok Therapy

For treatment, there are 2 levels of Sujok therapy.

In the first level, 2 correspondence systems are involved :

1. Main correspondence system

The hands and feet make up the main correspondence system. In this,

  • The thumb corresponds to the head and neck.
  • The 2nd & 5th fingers correspond to the upper limbs; that is, arms.
  • The 3rd & 4th fingers correspond to the lower limbs; that is, legs.
  • The knuckles correspond to the joint of the limbs.
  • The back of the palm and foot correspond to the torso.
  • The internal organs are represented on the palm and the foot.

Insect correspondence system, sujok therapy
Insect correspondence system, sujok therapy | Source

2. Insect correspondence system

On each finger and toe are located healing correspondence systems similar to the human body.

An insect's body is made up of 3 parts; head, chest and stomach. This is the exact way the correspondence systems are located on the fingers and toes.

  • The head and neck are located on the 1st phalange of the fingers and toes.
  • The breast is located on the 2nd phalange
  • The stomach is located on the 3rd phalange.
  • The upper limbs are located in a bent position on the side of the 2nd phalange.
  • The lower limbs are located in a bent position on the side of the 3rd phalange.

It should be noted that the healing impulses generated from the points of the feet are more powerful and effective than the ones generated from those of the hands. This is because we are constantly using our feet and nature meant it to be this way.

Because of its similarity to the insect's body this system is called Insect correspondence system.

The second level is an independent healing method based on metaphysics and is more complicated. More study and efforts are needed to treat with this level.

Locating & Stimulating The Pain Points

There are many ways these points can be located and stimulated. Some of the things that can be used are:

  • A diagnostic probe, a matchstick or any appropriate object with a rounded tip. Those experienced can even use a nail for this purpose.
  • Small microneedles.
  • Natural seeds.
  • Grains.
  • Natural stones.
  • Metal & magnet stars of different shapes.
  • Rubber bands.
  • Ball bearings or Tsu balls.
  • Moxa cigars & cones.
  • Metal rollers.

Benefits Of Sujok Therapy

~~~ Primary sujok can be learnt in a couple of hours.
~~~ No special education is required.
~~~ Can be practiced anytime at home.
~~~ No special equipment or expensive tools are needed.
~~~ No age limit to get treated.
~~~ Treat any body part.
~~~ Very effective. Effects comparable to drug treatment
~~~ Can heal chronic disease.
~~~ Compatible with medicines being taken.
~~~ Acts as a life saver in acute cases when first aid is needed.
~~~ A boon to the poor and those in underdeveloped countries and to those who cannot afford expensive medical treatment or medical treatment is hard to come by.
~~~ Can be used to treat day to day health issues.
~~~ No side effects.
Some Points To Note
Sujok treats body parts or organs not the symptoms: therefore, it is necessary to know which organ or part needs to be treated to get relief. Also, if irreversible changes have occurred in body tissues or organs, sujok therapy still eases the condition though it may not cure it.
For serious diseases that have affected many body organs, the 1st level of sujok therapy may not be sufficient.The second level of treatment, that is, the metaphysical part has to be used.
Sujok therapy is not a cure all but is very much suited to treat a multitude of diseases that one encounters in daily grind of living.
Very informative and fascinating hub. I believe this can work. Upon a friend's suggestion, I've tried pinching the web of flesh between my thumb and pointer finger for a headache and it has gone away. I think it's very exciting that such a natural remedy could be available, but very discouraging that Western society doesn't give these methods more respect, particularly our FDA.
I have heard of this but you did a great job of actually educating me about it. Fascinating stuff my friend, and something I tend to believe in. I have much less faith in traditional medicines and treatment.
@ Ruchira - sujok has acupressure and acupuncture both incorporated into it. Very much based on similar principles too.
Thanks for reading and sharing your views.
@ Crystal - I agree with you, these traditional alternate therapies are not liked by the modern medical men. Thus, nothing is done to encourage them. But they work.
Thanks for your input. Appreciate your visit.
Very interesting to learn about a new type of therapy. Have you ever tried it or do you know anyone that has benefited from it? Although it is a different therapy there seem to be some similarities to acupuncture but I'm sure there are key differences. Voted up and shared!
I've not tried sujok but I've heard of its benefits from those who have. Related to sujok is acupressure. I've tried and use it regularly. I've a hub on it too.
Sujok is a combination of acupressure and acupuncture. Seed therapy is also used in sujok. I will be making a hub on it later.
Thanks for reading and sharing.
Rajan -As one very much interested in alternative therapy I find your hub very interesting. It appears to be an advanced acupressure treatment. As you mention it is applicable for treatment of any body part I feel inclined to know whether it can cure HEART MUSCLE problem. Actually my heart muscle is thicker than normal causing some health hazards. Meanwhile, thank you very much for sharing this.
Carol - Sujok is an effective alternate therapy very similar to acupressure therapy and works on almost the same principle. Reading more about it will surely make it more understandable. Thanks for reading and sharing.
Arun - You are correct Arun. It is another form of acupressure therapy. I'm not very advanced working with it but I believe you should get help for your problem, from a professional who practices this therapy.
Thanks for reading.
