Updated on November 24, 2014

My doctor, nurse, herbalist wife has stayed trim and fit all her life. The rest of us usually have to work at it.

Nothing happens until you make it start to happen....

At my original 205 and 5'10" my problem was not so much a weight problem as a fitness problem. I was losing muscle mass, and the lack of good, regular exercise was putting bones and joints at risk. 165 would not only be a more ideal weight for me, but it would be even more ideal, if what my frame carried around every day became "usable stuff."

A partial start is still a start! Sufficient Water + Adequate Veggies = A Good Move!
Get anchored.

Like me, you probably already know what you want

I had a goal to lose 40 pounds by the coming fall. I had already lost 5 pounds in about a month, and I had six months to go (about 6 pounds per month). The hardest part was over because I was exercising, and I was off sugar.

All the knowledge in the world doesn't do a thing. Most of the world's knowledge sits on shelves gathering dust, or ready but untapped in the computer. People who sit on their duff gather calories, and their laps move to the rear under an assumed name!

If you are planning to lose 35-40, even if that is only a start, let's do it! If you don't think life would be better getting and staying trim, give it a try anyway, you will be pleasantly surprised. If you already think it would be better, why put more weight on by putting off the first step?

On these HubPages, already available, are a series of tips for the day whose titles start with those words. They come not only from my personal experience, but from the experience of coaching others to successful weight loss coupled with increased personal fitness.

It is the fitness that is the ultimate goal. With fitness come healthy weight, reduced risks of life threatening diseases, functionality, and improved self-confidence and self-esteem. All of those are prizes worth winning.

There are five essentials to recognize in striving for lifelong. healthy weight management You will find them presented in the Hub "Five Diet Keys You Need To Know." A link is provided below, just click on the link to get started, and then go to the other link provided. Some essentials will be repeated for emphasis.

For daily encouragement and suggestions for your initial efforts, follow the other Hubs with the "Tips.... " titles.

Self-preservation is the first law of nature, so be law abiding and self-preserving.

Healthy, but not fit....

Pass the time with some exercise thrown in (and much less sugar!)
