The Best Acne Scar Treatment

Although acne usually clears up by the early twenties acne scars can last a lifetime and can be very disfiguring. Acne scar cosmetic treatments are one way to deal with the problem. So what is the best acne scar treatment?

There are a variety of treatments available, none of them are cheap however so you need to carefully look at them and decide which one is right for both your acne scar problem and your budget.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for small acne scars that are raised above the surface of the skin. this basically exfoliates the skin and removes damaged and dead skin on the surface. It is not appropriate for deeper scars or those that are sunk below the skin surface. in this treatment a machine is used to spray very small crystals onto the surface of the skin in a pressurized stream. The crystals are usually aluminium oxide and others such as zinc oxide, sodium chloride or magnesium oxide may be used instead. This removes the top layer of the skin and is very useful to completely clean out the pores and remove dead skin cells. It is very low risk and does not require any recovery.

Costs: $80 to $200 for individual treatments. Between $800 and $1000 for a complete course of treatments.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation is a gentle treatment that does not remove the top layer of skin that uses light to reach below the surface of the skin and stimulate collagen growth which then helps to fill in the acne scars over the next few months. There is no recovery time as there is no damage to the skin and only takes 15 or 20 minutes to carry out although there may be a slight reddening of the skin which is temporary and can be easily covered by makeup. Of course, laser skin rejuvenation treatments is usually carried out over about a month with about four or five treatments.

Costs: $400 - $650 for individual treatments. Between $1000 - $2000 for a complete course of treatments.

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing is available in two different forms called ablative and non-ablative. Recovery from non-ablative laser treatment is much quicker is usually done only on less severe scarring. The laser is used to make small areas of damage to the skin around the scars which causes the growth of more collagen in these areas which helps to heal the scar. This is one of the best acne scar treatments but is one of the most expensive.

Costs: $800 - $2500 for individual treatments. Between $4000 - $9000 for a complete course of treatments.

Acne Scar Thermage Treatment it is another treatment which uses waves that are in the radio frequency range and is usually used for wrinkles and lines on the skin. This treatment stimulates collagen growth and therefore does not treat the scars in the same way as fractional laser skin resurfacing. It is painless and noninvasive and takes less than an hour.

Costs: $1000 - $1500 for individual treatments. Between $2000 - $3000 for a complete course of treatments.

Dermal Filling is usually temporary and consists of injections of collagen which help to fill the scars. After a few months the filling material is absorbed by the body. The collagen can be derived from animal or other natural sources so if you are using animal-based collagen treatment you will need to be tested for an allergic reaction first. There are also newer dermal fillers such as Restylane® that use synthetic material so do not have the risk of an allergic reaction and usually last longer than the other collagen treatments. If you are looking for a cheap, although temporary method this could be the best acne scar treatment for you.

Chemical Peels are not so popular as they once were as acne scar treatments as laser skin resurfacing is being used more frequently instead. They are however quite effective for mild to moderate acne scarring as they actually burn off the top layer of the skin which then allows new unscarred, healthy skin to grow. The most popular type of chemical peel uses glycolic acid which is a natural acid found in plants and fruit. A chemical peel will only take about 15 minutes and is relatively pain free although there may be some stinging. After effects include dryness and redness of the skin which may last from a few days to a week depending on the type and severity of the chemical peel procedure. A course of a minimum of three treatments is needed to see any marked improvement in acne scarring.

Costs: $500 - $900 for individual treatments. Between $1200 - $2700 for a complete course of treatments.

So what is the best acne scar treatment? This will depend on the amount of scarring you have and, of course, your budget. Some of the more effective acne scar treatments are expensive and require repeated visits to be effective. Consider how deep your scarring is and set up a consultation with a dermatologist to discuss the best one for you.

As prevention is better than cure, i would like to advice that in times of excercises, wear as little make-ups as possible.

After excercise, shower using medicated exfoliant cleanser and be very gentle on your tender skin.

Avoid friction when dealing with sport equipment.

However once affected, its my advice that you use a cream.

Guys, get rid your acne problem does not have to be´╗┐ dilficuft (I used to think it did). I'll give you some advice right now. Look for a acne treatment known as Acnezilax Secrets (do a search on google). Seriously, that remedy has changed my life. I probably shouldn't even be talking about it because I don't want a bunch of other folks out there running the same game but whatever, I am just in a great mood today so I will share the wealth haha.
