The CLA and Green Tea extract Supplement Challenge

THE CHALLENGE

Will both CLA and Green Tea Extract supplement help me lose weight with minimal exercise and a carefree diet???

Experience with me as I document my weekly progress with pictures, weigh ins and more for 52 weeks

The beginning...

Okay, so here it goes. The reason for WHY I have started this blog is to keep track of my experience with the “CLA and Green Tea Supplement Challenge” and see what all the hype is about. I’ve been reading so many articles on the internet to educate myself about the two products. I wanted to see if this stuff really works and to see if it will give me the HOT body I’ve always wanted.

Let me tell you a little about myself first. I am not a doctor, a nutritionist or a miracle worker. So please consult your doctor first before following any of my footsteps. This is nothing more than me challenging myself and me telling the world about my experience.

Im a professional Makeup Artist, so please if my grammar sucks or if I miss spelt something, no need to point it out to me or make fun of me. After all, I do paint faces for a living.

Im just a short Chubby Women (lets use the word Chubby, sounds soooo much cuter than fat). I am 5 feet tall weighing at my heaviest at 169 lbs. Im considered obese according to my BMI. I do not watch what I eat and I do not exercise. Hahahaha, and I wonder why im “Chubby”. I have gained about 50 lbs within the last 4 years and is interested to lose 55-60lbs which is considered my ideal weight for my height. Am I expecting to lose all the weight solely on adding the 2 supplements to my diet?? NO! Two minor adjustment I am going to do is start walking 20 mins a day and to start eating breakfast. Right now my food diet consist of nothing for breakfast, whatever leftover dinner I had the night before or take out for lunch and for dinner, either whatever my mom cooks or where ever me and my boyfriend/friends go out to eat (about 3-4 times a week).

So, how did my curiosity began?? It all started when I arrived home from work. My mom was on the couch watching Dr. Oz and asked her what was going on. She was telling me about this supplement that the Doctor had recommend for varicose veins. She has been complaining about how painful hers has been for the past year and was really interested about purchasing the supplement. My mommy doesn’t drive so, I told her I can look into it and buy it for her. So that night I decided to drive to the closest health store and found the supplement for my mom (and just in case you were wondering, i think it’s called Horse Chestnut Seed). As I was checking it out, I jokingly asked the cashier “do you have anything to get rid of this fat?” and she said “CLA”. Then I was like “huh” Then she said “CLA, its Conjugated linoleic acids....” after that point she was explaining what it was and I couldn’t understand a word she was saying....all I was hearing was blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Up until she said “I lost 60 lbs without changing my diet or exercising in a year” GASP!! How is that even possible I asked. She then showed me a before and after picture of herself and yes, she did lose a lot of weight. She said her doctor advise her to use it. She then started to show me different brands. As she was showing me, I started to think that this girl was just trying to up sell me the product and that is why she was talking so highly about it. But then she said “don’t buy it from here, it’s a lot cheaper at Wal-Mart”. Im a sucker....she had me at “wal-mart”.

I went to Wal-Mart and purchased CLA and went straight home. I will admit, I do kinda get scared of in taking new things that I haven’t heard of before so I had to do my research. In a nutshell,

CLA

CLA stands for Conjugated Linoleic Acid which can be found in some meat and dairy products. It’s all natural

Pros

  • Helps promote fat loss and lean mass gain
  • Increase energy and helping fat loss
  • CLA has cancer fighting abilities
  • Treats Diabetes
  • Enhances and improves your immune system
  • acts as a powerful anti-oxidant
  • helps improve cholesterol levels
  • help prevent Atherosclerosis

Cons

Side Effects seems to be very minimal. Mostly upset stomach and diarrhea. Other than that I haven’t found any major side effects. (Again, im not a doctor, so please do not take my word for it.)

It takes about over a month for you to see results for weight loss.

Now, as for Green tea extract, I read that combining the two actually enhances the weight loss program.

Green Tea Extract

Information that I have gathered for Green Tea Extract is that it is comprised of natural substance that offer weight management support.

Pros

  • Acts as a Anti-oxidant
  • Burn fat and Exercise longer
  • prolong life
  • prevent and treat cancer
  • protect from heart attacks and strokes
  • reduces high blood pressure and prevents diabetes
  • treat inflammation

And many more.

Cons

As for the side effects, most say it has little or no side effects. It does contain caffeine, so be cautious of this.

In conclusion, my challenge will consist of

  • taking both CLA and Green Tea extract supplement, following the directions on the bottle.
  • no big change in diet other than including breakfast into my routine
  • adding 20 mins walk daily

For 52 weeks starting Thursday Feb 17 2011.

I will post my progress weekly which will include current pictures of my body (ewwwww, and I will not include my face...hahaha) and it will include information about how I feel, as in, if I feel sick, having allergic reaction or if I feel fantastic. I will also post current weight and any inches lost.

Ready Set GOOO!!!! Day 1

Ok, here I go. Above are pictures of my fat ass...the beginning. I have completed my very first day of adding CLA and Green Tea extract to my diet, a 20 min walk with my doggie, and no restrictions to my diet. I did include Breakfast into my routine which only consist of a Smoothie.

  • 1/2 cup of berries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup non fat yogurt
  • 1 cup of skim milk

It tasted really good and it was quick and fast. I feel fine and theres really not that much to talk about right now. Stay tune for results in a few days.

 

 

 


 

That didnt last long

Week 2 March 3 2011- THE END

Okay everyone, I kinda ran into a little problem with my challenge. Everything seemed fine for the 1st week. I lost about 3 lbs, I felt great but then my face started to feel funny, it felt swollen. So I was thinking "could I be allergic to the CLA?" (for sure not the green tea extract, ive taken it numerous of times!) I had to do my own investigation and I stopped taken it for 2 days. The weird feeling from my face disappered, so I started to give the CLA one more try to the feeling came back later on to the day. So apperently there is a small ## of people who is allergic to CLA, swelling of the face being one of the symptom. Unfortunately, I am one of those people. I was super excited about this challenge but disappointed that it has to come to an end. Im interested to see what my new challenge will be and keep you all posted. Im thinking maybe ill do the "INSANITY Challange"

perhabs you can use a vitamine supplement with guarana ,for example one a day energy pills in combination with exercise for 20 minutes or 30 minutes a day. However it is best to take these vitamin pills after breakfast.
