Oolong vs Wulong vs Wu Yi Tea

All Wu-long Tea and Wu-Yi teas are actually Oolong Tea. All tea comes from the same plant, it is just the process it goes through that determines what type of tea it is you're getting. Oolong is the result of tea being partially oxidized (green tea is hardly oxidized, black is fully oxidized). Oolong tea is made from the same tea plant as White tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Wu Long Tea, Wu Yi Tea and Black Tea.

The tea plant is called the Camillia Sinensis and can be found all over the world. The Chinese have been drinking Oolong Teas for thousands of years. There are many types of Oolong tea, this is where most of the confusion takes place. Look for the specific grade on the website or at the store. Here are some fo the most famous Wu Yi Oolong Cliff teas: Da Hong Pao, Shui Jin Gui, Bai Ji Guan. Tie Kuan Yin is from the Anxi region in the fujian Provence.

Wulong is actually a slang for Oolong tea coined by a company in the US to take advantage of Oprah mentioning that drinking tea is good for you. Oprah didn't mention any specific company or any specific region that the tea is grown in. Green tea and Oolong tea are the 2 products that have gotten the most Press.

The Chinese name for Oolong tea is Black Dragon Tea. Oolong tea is very smooth in flavor and there are many types of Oolong Tea. The grades of the tea, the region they are grown in, when they are picked, how they are processed and oxidized give the tea the different flavors. It's very similar to wine in as far as there are famous tea regions such as the Fujian Provence, Wu Yi Shan Mountains, Anxi County, just like there are famous wine regions such as Bordeaux, Burgandy, Napa, Sonoma etc.

You can buy very cheap oolong teas on ebay, amazon, your local chinese herbal store, whole foods, local herbal stores. You can also buy more expensive Oolong Teas at these fine establishments. GNC is now offering a specific type of Oolong tea called Wu Yi Tea. Wu Yi is another americanized term that specific companies us to coin their specific brand of Oolong tea. The Wu Yi San Mountains are a very famous tea regions with Wu Yi Rock tea being grown there. Da Hong Pao is one of the most famous chinese teas to come from the Wu Yi Shan Mountain located in the Fujian Provence.

Be wary of any company promising so called "FREE TRIAL". They are never free and always have a catch with your credit card being used multiple times by some of the unscupulous companies that prey on the public.

Be careful of one in particular called WuYisource. They are bad news and operate under many alias's with many websites and affiliates. Ask yourself who can stay in business and only give away Free Products. The answer is NO ONE!! You will be automatically enrolled in an authoship program which may end up costing you $ hundreds of your hard earned $$$. Always read the terms and conditions usually hidden or at the bottom of the website.
