The Healthcare Disaster Or Mars Or....

A Delicious Irony

Seems that the public's short term memory loss concerning Obama and Obamacare is circling around to administer a bite in the buttocks. This is subject to be the most monumental disaster ever crammed down the collective throats of American tax payers To further exacerbate an already bad situation Obama and his hench people are intent on once again not releasing information that the public has a right to know since it is our money that seems to vanishing into thin air repeatedly.

Now I know according to our liberal sages the problems with the website are being caused by the sheer volume of people who are flocking to sign up. That's the usual rubbish strewn around Obama to deflect his total incompetence and knowledge about a disaster he himself created for us. The real story seems a little different than Obama spin as usual. His lips started moving again it seems.

You Might Sign Up Here And Have A Better Chance....

First up on the list is that one way trip to the "Mars Colony" that more people have signed up for possibly taking than have registered for Obamacare. It's upwards of 200,000 people at this point and some have made a deposit to hold their seat. That may turn out to be a better investment than signing up for the USS Obamacare journey. Irony drips off the fact that more people are willing to take that one trip to the red planet than risk Obamacare.

I'm betting dollars to donuts that it will be a long, long time and heaps of foot dragging before the real truth about this "glitch prone" fiasco is revealed. Just the little things like how many people have signed up and PAID FOR their Obamacare ride.

Lets use my buddy Stu's state as an example. Enrollment in Vermont, a socialist bastion, has enrolled just 712 Obamacare sheeple to date. So far the state has spent $9 million of tax payer dollars to hit that staggering figure. After spending $9 million on outreach, advertising and other PR ventures that's the kit and caboodle. I'm surprised that many people were even able to access that website but the state is running their own own exchange so who knows.

Gross Incompetence On Display

Then we have HHS head Kathleen Sebilius pulling a "Hillary" on us about testifying before a Congressional committee attempting to find out what the hell is going on with this disastrous law and how much it has cost so far and how much more it is going to cost to fix something she had over 3 years to fine tune. I predict that the final figures will be staggering just like the initial estimate of this administration about how much this mess is going to ultimately add to the national debt in a short period of time. As of late she has made time in her busy schedule to appear on Comedy Central in an effort to attract young people to make a really stupid decision to enroll and waste their precious dollars.

Then this Thursday, since she's so busy trying to straighten out the mess she helped create, she can squeeze in time to travel to a big gala in Boston. But she can't seem to appear before Congress for a hearing scheduled to honor her and her incompetence.

Now the way Obama spun this, and still does, is that his plan was so unpopular and remains so because of poor messaging. Really? What he should be saying is that his teleprompter made all those grandiose promises and he had not a thing to do with it as usual. Or the old fall back position that it is "the Republican's fault" even though there were locked out of writing the law.

Sold A Bill Of Goods Again America!

From the scant information available about our money spent so far Obama, via the HHS, has spent $394 million building the Healthcare.gov website and associated trappings. They even went so far as testing it one week before the October 1st roll out. I'm just waiting now for a spokesperson to tell us all how it worked like a charm right before the roll out but then went POOF.

The prime contractor has already been paid more than $200 million and counting. It turns out that contractor was FIRED by a Canadian province or two for screwing up its medical records database. Take comfort my liberal thinkers those are your medical records subject to all manner of abuse with the roll out of Obamacare.

Rumor has it that Obama is going to give us one of his famous teleprompter addressees today about how misunderstood we are and he isn't. So grab a chair, some popcorn and a soda and enjoy more snake oil pitching.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The cost to taxpayers has risen along with the blundering. CGI Federal, a U.S. subsidiary of the Canadian firm CGI Group, received a no-bid contract with a base value of $55.7 million in 2011 to develop the website. Since then, the potential cost has risen to $292 million, although serious problems remain."

Vote It," "Like" It, "Tweet" It, "Pin " It, "Share It" With Your Followers. Time to let em read it and keep reading it.

As Always,

Obamacare was designed to eventually fail as an insurance-based system, so Democrats could move it to the single payer system they always wanted, but not so soon!

Obama gambled, and he may lose.

Stu 3 years ago

Wow - that's only $12,500 per person so far for enrollment expense in VT. Should be down to "only" $4,000 by 1/1, assuming no fixes are made to the system (due to the extra 1400 people that will get enrolled). That would bring us to 2100 enrollees in VT, out of 600,000 who live here and "must by law" enroll, even though the website won't let you. If we have to pay fines for not being able to enroll, maybe we can subrogate them by suing, umm, the website? Since we would only have to meet the preponderance standard (civil suit), I think we'd have a good case.

Where to start with 0vomitcare? Great post, Frog! Signers are finding that their 0vomitcare cost is going to be almost half again what they are currently paying and are then deciding to opt out, at which time they receive notice that they will be fined to the tune of about $4,000.

0vomitcare is exactly what it was designed to be: a ponzi scheme.

On top of that, 0vomit did not use an American company to create the program. Knowing the loser, he probably used a Muslim firm, but I can't be sure of that; however, the people who did it don't know their eyeballs from their ... (I'll leave that to your imagination!) Again, Frog, great job!

And yet many still believe Obamacare is the best thing that has ever happened to this country. I clearly don't understand their thinking unless of course they still believe this is "free" healthcare. I would need one of the believers to explain to me in detail how this is a good thing.

Mike - They'll try to cite the 30 million uninsured people that will have insurance now. Yet projections are that there will still be 30 million people uninsured. It's called circular logic where I come from.

Jim, are you referring to those 30 million uninsured that fill the ER's at our hospitals for free care?

It would seem that them receiving this free healthcare under Obamacare really doesn't give them anything they don't already have.

Either way, it is still just redistribution of wealth because somebody pays for their healthcare.

Yeah, the Messy, ah Barack (who's sane?) Obama spoke today and had the Delaware subscriber right behind him - guess what! This is the Delaware woman (the only subscriber from the whole state of Delaware) that Jay Carney (the Tiger) was heralding as the success of Ovomitcare (I love you Annette, whoever you are) !

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj234/APithicus...

Obama turned to her and asked her if she needed help because even though she was behind him somehow he knew she was faint! Shades of Obama fans fainting at his speeches? - well get a load of these episodes - uncanny isn't it?. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dySlhGY6Zyo

BTW - I didn't know Ovomitcare applicants get a trip to Mars...mmmm, Frog, maybe I better read your hub again.

394 million? That is money that could have been applied to actual healthcare! The math just doesn't make sense.

Good article.

Regarding the question 'who built the HealthCare System?’ You may be able to find an answer by looking for historical announcements regarding the HealthCare contracts. If my recollection is right, that information is required to be released publicly. Not sure by whom though.

In other parts of the government, buying and building systems is subject to really strict rules, with mandatory Congressional investigations as the consequence for serious schedule slips or cost over-runs, or outright failure. For some reason, that does not appear to apply to the new HealthCare system. Does anyone happen to know (not conjecture) if it does not?

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 3 years ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

Gee, I doubt that anyone thinks Obama is above the law! It must not apply to Ovomitcare - why? because he said so probably. If anyone should be fired for this failure it should be him - he is in charge of it isn't he? or is it really Sebeliuscare?

Oh no! I've gone blind! Now what do I do?

By the way, I've been assuming that we who have health insurance already do not have to apply for HealthCare. Is that true, or should I just plan on forking over the fine?

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 3 years ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

You have affordable healthcare already? I'd wait 'til they inform you that they are no longer going to offer you that anymore because of Ovomitcare. Whatever you do don't bother calling the 800 number Obama gave out today - it tells you to go to healthcare.gov. Brilliant. He must have gotten the number from the IAU (Incompetence Are Us).

Jayfort 3 years ago

The company (BC/BS) that supplies insurance for the company I work for has cancelled the policy that many of us have used for a decade or more. We've been told it was due to the low number of enrollees at our organization. So I had to enroll in a program with reduced benefits and higher deductibles. While I had a slightly lower premium (in part to the organization picking up more of the cost), I've rolled that "savings" into my cafeteria plan to offset the higher deductibles and other costs.

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 3 years ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

It's obvious, and intelligent people have known it from the beginning, Ovomitcare isn't working, will never work and was never intended to work - the end game is single payer, a system in which the government, rather than private insurers, pays for all health care costs.

The question is we know Ovomitcare is the means and single-payer is the end game but how do we get from Ovomitcare to single-payer? To make that jump (or maybe now it is just a hop, skip and a jump) something drastic has to happen...drastic like marshal law, a reason for Obama to stay in office past his second term to see his goals to their end. Ovomitcare was the hop, get ready for the skip and then the jump. I wonder what they have in mind but I wouldn't put anything past them, the Baracketeers. Think The Godfather.

Ghost32writer 3 years ago

Despite my wife's many disabilities (which make health care an issue in our house), one of the best things we ever did was get her completely out of the system in 2006 by getting married and then advising the federal caseworkers (the very next day) to take their wonderful tax money and go pee up a rope with it...although we did paraphrase that last part a little.

I will never forget the case worker's voice on the phone when I called to advise her what we'd done and to find out what letter had to be sent to yank Pammie out of their clutches. She was absolutely stunned; it was clear she'd never heard of anyone actually giving up all that "free money" (SSDI) and next-to-free Medicaid health care.

We never saw Obamacare coming at that point because, admittedly, we never saw Obama coming. But we were OUT of the system, and staying that way.

We've considered all the angles, and NO WAY will either of us ever sign up for Obamacare, or for that matter, even Medicare. Our health care is all cash and carry, out of pocket or do without.

Strangely enough, I continue to run into enthusiasts who tout Obamacare as the greatest thing since fire, yet none of them seem to be actually signed up yet. Ideology vs. reality, and never the twain shall meet.

Yeah, dumber than Ovomitcare? well how else could he get there because he knows if the republicans get the senate and keep the house they're on their way to kill Ovomitcare. Of course if he gets control of the congress in 2014 he can ram single payer down our throats like they did Ovomitcare.

I would bet that Amazon could tell you right now exactly how many left handed widgets they sold yesterday and how many visitors they had to their website. They could also tell you how many visitors actually made a purchase while on their website.

Now supposedly, Obama was not informed about the problems with the Obamacare website prior to the launch. If I were the CEO of a company and was not kept in the loop on something this important, somebody would get fired. No long drawn out hearings process would have to happen, I would personally fire the person in charge of that project. That is what a CEO gets paid to do.

Obama refuses to admit that the failures of those under his responsibility are also his failures. He will play the blame game on this like he does with everything, but doesn't have the guts to do the right thing and fire those responsible for the failure. That would take leadership qualities and he has none.

tsadjatko profile image

Now the truth is seeping out. First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the contract to build the failed Obamacare website. Just a coincidence? I'm sure it is... but how many other coincidences in this fiasco are going unnoticed? I wonder.

And CGI was on record with a couple other website fiascoes before this one- what a track record -Obamacare Tech Firm Tried, Failed to Build Gun Registry in Canada: CGI's contract was canceled in 2007 after a report by the Auditor General found that the Canadian Firearms Information System (CFIS) being built by CGI was "significantly over budget" and that it had been plagued by delays.

Maybe Michelle should be questioned by congress? That'd be a first? oh no, you can't make a spouse testify against her hubby. Maybe she'd take the fifth.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 3 years ago from Rural Arizona

I can almost guarantee you she would take the fifth. It will be very interesting to see if the media even mentions this coincidental between Michelle and CGI. On a no-bid contract how do they decide who is awarded the bid?

tsadjatko profile image

tsadjatko 3 years ago from maybe (the guy or girl) next door

Another thing, now we see a connection to Michelle and the 500 million, 600 or now they say 1 billion spent on the roll out isn't it obvious all that money was not used to roll this disaster out? CGI tried to extort more money from Canada for their firearms site and Canada fired them - why did the US keep them when they went into cost over runs?

I think somehow most of this money was funneled into a Democrat slush fund. No one has yet followed the money.

And no one has reported on actors, models whose smiling faces are plastered all over the healthcare.gov site.? How were they picked? Relatives of politicians? What were they paid? Their pictures show up multiple times a day on TV news stations all over the country because of the non stop coverage of the failed Ovomitcare roll out. Are they so "happy" because THEY PARTICIPATED IN OBAMACARE or because they got paid? Wouldn't you like to know? I would.

Why hasn't any reporter investigated this angle? Could some be relatives of Sebelius or maybe Obama? At the very least it is an interest story of a different twist on Obamacare even if they are just actors and models. So...why no coverage on them? Are they being kept hidden like the survivors of Bengazi?

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 3 years ago from Rural Arizona

We will never know the truth regarding where all the money went. They are skilled at shuffling this money so fast that we can't keep up with where the money is at any point in time. You can bet that at least of few were able to add more gold to the linings in their pockets.

Our representatives should be screaming for an investigation on this outrage, but perhaps some of this money ended up in their pockets?

Same reason they ignored fast and furious and Benghazi for months. 60 minutes interviewed a survivor tonight who was disgusted with the whole thing and was in charge of the Libyan forces there who were supposed to protect the Ambassador - He said three months before the attack he expressed serious concerns about them and the security and that they knew they would be attacked and did nothing about it. Even so not once in this 60 minutes coverage did they mention anything about the lies from Barachio Obama, Hil liar y, (bite me) Biden and (not so nice) Rice blaming it on a video protest. The interview did reveal that the attack was very professional, well planned and could only have been executed by terrorists (having nothing to do with any protest although they still didn't go there).
