The Journey Begins...Six Year Old Grandson's Fight to Survive
More "Pennies" Came from a Hubber
How humbling it is to receive pennies from across the nation and especially from precious writers here on HubPages. On Thursday I opened a card from yet another hubber...send good wishes and monetary help for our baby boy.
Tomorrow he has a procedure....involving his tummy so please send some extra prayers and positive energy his way.
And please keep sharing this and please send pennies if you can. And know that many Angels are on the way to you
A Writer here on HubPages Sent Two Special Pennies
Update: a second gift from a Hubber here on HubPages
Today I received a special gift of two pennies of another writer here on HubPages.
I had been told to look carefully at them as they were covered in prayers.
And I found those prayers and we will treasure the blessings that come with them.
Update: A Gift Arrived from a HubPages Writer Today
This morning when I checked my mail, there was gift of 'pennies' in the form of a check for Heston Wayne's medical care. Out of respect for the person, I will not reveal who the donor was but it is a Hubber.
That is right. A lovely individual from here on HubPages sent us monies to help our sick little man.
We are so very greatful. Thank you does not seem enough to say but it is the way to try to show appreciation. A great big hug is on the way too.
Update...pennies are arriving
Update #1 June 15th
Today Heston Wayne and his Momma head back to Florida.
The MRI showed no tumor on his pituitary gland but he is leaking fluid from the gland or in that area so fluid has been sent to pathology and results are due to be back in 3 weeks.
According to the doctors, we are not out of the woods for cancer in that area at this time.
Next week, Heston goes in to have a naso gastric tube placed as he is losing weight continuously and eating solid foods causes his tummy to hurt.
So that is where we are.
Once again, I ask you to please ask those you know to view the video on youtube shared in this hub ...we are asking for one penny from anyone who can donate. Tape it to a piece of paper and mail to: Patricia Scott POB 554 Hawthorne Fl 32640 Thank you once again.
Sleeping at the Ronald McDonald House in Boston
My grandson is very ill...I have written about him in an earlier hub---the link to it is provided in this hub as well. He has a condition that is broadly known as Shwachman Diamond Syndrome but like with many diseases he has anomalies which cause it to be difficult to really classify, if that makes sense. He is in bone marrow failure.
He and his Momma are in Boston and are being treated by doctors that through Dana Farber Hospital.
We are so very thankful that the doctors here in Florida recognized the need for them to be seen in Boston as quickly as possible. In a matter of week after identifying the need he was referred and they are there as i mentioned.
We have no definitive plan yet as all of the testing is not complete. Tomorrow he has a major test and then we will see from there. This will not be a quick fix. And my daughter has been told that it is most likely that Heston Wayne will need a bone marrow transplant before all is said and done.
So...that is simply where we are right now.
Heston Wayne, travelling to Boston---His First Airplane Ride
Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.— John Wayne
This is the perfect quote for a hub about Heston Wayne. Because you see, he is named after Charlton Heston and John Wayne!!!
Trying to Feed Heston
When they return to Florida, Heston Wayne will go to his "Florida" hospital to have a naso gastric tube placed (he does not eat as it makes his tummy hurt)....His body also does not absorb nutrients so he has continually lost weight. And when I say he does not eat, he does not eat, anything, sometimes for days. He simply has no interest in food.
If the NG tube works after several months, a permanent tube will be placed in his tummy.
At least three more trips are scheduled back to Boston, so once again the need for funds to make this possible.
We are hopeful...as I say...HOPE REiGNS in this family!!!!
Give a Penny.....Help Heston Wayne....
Your Help is Needed
As I state in the video, we need help with medical bills. I know we all are asked so often for donations for this and that...I am also asked.
In this case, I am asking for one penny from each of you and I am asking that you share this hub with your friends....
If everyone sends a penny, and there friends send a penny, we may be able to save enough pennies to pay the mounting bills.
Heston's Momma found an organization that would help us raise money via the purchase of t-shirts. And so Heston's Heroes was born. A lot of money was not raised through this endeavor but every dollar counts.
Wind Beneath Each Other's Wings
Lifting Each Other...
A day or two ago I told my daughter that I trying to be the wind beneath their wings but the truth is, they are the wind beneath my wings.
My daughter who is fighting for her life as well walks each day with precious Heston Wayne as if nothing at all is wrong with her. Her goal is to lift him up and help him to find answers so that his body can be healed. And alas, that is it after all isn't it?
We are here to be the wind beneath the wings of EACH other as we walk this walk. So thank you for being so for us....

Brave Lil' Man
As I mentioned in the video, Heston has heard that Superman had written a letter to a sick boy and told him how brave he was. And Hess said, "Mom, I want to hear from Superman...I am brave." (And brave he is with all of the tests and pain that he endures.)
So as I mentioned in the video, he has received wishes from Superman and even memorabilia. It makes him feel reassured that he really is brave!!!
Grandchildren are a Wonderful Gift
Both of my grandchildren make my hear overflow each day. I have written about Heston's brother as he is sick too. Doctors said Jay, Hess's brother, would never be sick....and praise God, he just turned 21....
So we do remain every HOPEFUL and full of faith and know that somehow this will work out well.
Please help us by sharing this on all of your sites. And thank you....thank you...thank you.
More information on his illness
This hub gives you the background knowledge you need to begin to understand Heston's condition. We had no idea something such as this had found its way into our lives, into his body.
Please send pennies to:

Please share this message and thank you so very much. I will keep you updated as things progress.
