The Many Signs of Infertility

What are the signs of infertility?

Are you aware of the things that are happening to your body? You should be because this might affect your family life in the future.

Infertility is one of the leading causes of fights among married couples because of their desperate desire to have a baby and to start a family. Here are the signs of infertility to help you decide if you really need medical help. If you think these signs are relevant to you, then make sure you will mention these to your doctor or ob-gyne.

1. Irregular menstruation or not having your period

Amenorrhea is the abnormal suppression or absence of menstruation. A woman should have regular menstruation every month but if you’re delayed or is having an irregular menstrual cycle, then this could mean that you’re infertile.

Amenorrhea may also be caused by changes in the organs, glands, or hormones. The possible causes can be the failure of the ovaries, issues in the central nervous system, malformed reproductive organs, hormonal imbalance, or too little body fat.

2. Miscarriages

Miscarriage is the premature expulsion of a fetus from the uterus. It is not always a sign of infertility because they may also be caused by genetic problems or unknown issues. But if a woman experiences repeated miscarriages, she should be tested to see if it is an issue with her reproductive system.

3. Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disorder with the lining normally found in the uterus grows on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, or even on the tissue lining your pelvis. While many women with healthy bodies go through this monthly menstruation, an exceedingly painful or heavy period may be one of the signs and symptoms of infertility. Women with endometriosis experience pelvic pain together with the normal menstrual comfortableness and this condition may cause infertility.

4. Undescended testicles

5. Pelvic inflammatory disease

It is a bacterial infection that begins in the uterus and may spread to other reproductive organs.

6. Stenosis

It is the narrowing of the cervix caused by scarring or tumors.

7. Fibroids

These are growths that may be inside the uterus.

8. Infections affecting infertility

Repeating urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted infections, and yeast infections. Urinary tract infections and yeas infections can indicate pelvic inflammatory disease or immunological problems that affect fertility. Sexually transmitted infections like Chlamydia can lead to permanent scarring.

Infertility Causes in Men

What You Should Know About Men Infertility Causes

It is not easy to detect what the biggest men infertility causes are. But these men infertility causes are not undetectable. In fact there are a whole lot of factors that can affect male infertility. May it be low sperm count, or physical pain, some causes even shared between male and female but this can be factors that may be pin-pointed by a doctor or even by one’s self. It is only a matter of knowing what the causes or symptoms are.

A factor that is considered as a part of the men infertility causes is simply malnutrition. A man with malnutrition easily yields to disease or a form of bodily disorder than can’t easily be detected but can be checked. This, as a part of men infertility causes suggest that if a candidate of malnutrition, this person may be a subject of infertility. A good reason for this is an improper diet. Not enough vitamins go through to support and sustain the bodily needs to grow and heal. But with a proper diet, this can be easily defended against and further worsening that could lead to infertility can simply be prevented.

The sudden weight gain or weight loss is also a consideration when it comes to men infertility causes. This sudden gain or loss is a bodily response that can indicate a medical or psychological condition or can easily be because of too much eating. This may be again treated with proper dieting but if anything like this starts to happen to your body, it is best suited that a doctor be consulted as soon as possible.

If work is already implying too much stress on you, may it be family related or household problems. Take a break. Another part of men infertility causes is having severe mental or physical stress. It is not advisable to overdo things as they may lead to physical and mental stress. At the same time, if it keeps on growing and remains unattended to, it could worsen and lead to male infertility. There’s always time for a quick break and a good day to rest. Our lives don’t solely rely on the work. At some point, everything has to come to a stop even for a couple of minutes. And those couple of minutes can save your fertility issues. You can seek some infertility support groups who may give you more insights on infertility.

The worst and more obvious factors that are included in the list of men infertility causes are the foreign or unhealthy vices that men undertake, more known as toxic substances which include high exposures to metal, drugs, radiation and heavy smoking. All of these have been known to be unhealthy for the human body but still, people are inhaling and taking in all these substances without knowing and understanding the extent of its danger. To some this will be a cause for debate, but ideally, these things have never been able to help the human body or get any reasonable benefit from them.

These are the most common and basic men infertility causes. These are factors that have already started taking effect on your body, or worse, have already caused infertility. Don’t let these things ruin your life. Have them checked and be informed. It is always better to be sure.

Male Infertility Test Video

What Do You Know About Male Infertility Test?

The vast majority of men simply have no way of judging their fertility before getting married. Rarely, however, some men may know they have the signs of infertility. For example, a sexual problem of impotence, which prevents consummation of the marriage; or one of hypospadias (in which the urethra is located at the base of the penis and the semen cannot be put in the vagina); or undescended testes (in which both the testes are not in the scrotum). When testing a couple for infertility, the man must always be tested first. Tests for the woman are far more complicated, invasive and expensive. It is much simpler to find out if the man has a problem.

For a semen analysis, a fresh semen sample, not more than half an hour old is needed, after sexual abstinence for at least 2 to 4 days. The man masturbates into a clean, wide mouthed bottle which is then delivered to the laboratory. Providing a semen sample by masturbation can be very stressful for some men, especially when they know their counts are low; or if they have had problems with masturbation for semen analysis in the past. Men who have this problem can and should ask for help. Either their wife can help them to provide a sample or they can see sexually arousing pictures or use a mechanical vibrator to help them get an erection. Some men also find it helpful to use liquid paraffin to provide lubrication during masturbation.

For some men, using the medicine called Viagra can help them to get an erection, thus providing additional assistance. If the problem still persists, it is possible to collect the ejaculate in a special silicone condom (which is non-toxic to the sperm) during sexual intercourse, and then send this to the laboratory for testing. The semen sample must be kept at room temperature; and the container must be spotlessly clean. If the sample spills or leaks out, the test is invalid and needs to be repeated. Except for liquid paraffin, no other lubricant should be used during masturbation for semen analysis. Many of these can kill the sperms. It is preferable that the sample is produced in the clinic itself and most infertility centers will have a special private room to allow you to do so: a "mastrbation".

After waiting for about 30 minutes after ejaculation, the doctor will examine the volume of the ejaculate, the viscosity, the pH, and the presence of the sugar called fructose.

There are many underlying causes of infertility which we'd already identified. Now, how are you going to do about it?

Can You Relate Smoking As One Of the Causes of Infertility?

Fibroids Cause Infertility

A fibroid or more known as a uterine fibroid, is a non-cancerous tumor that begins from the Myometrium or a smooth layer and the connective tissues found in the uterus. There can be one in every four women that may have it. Fibroids are common and some women may even have it but without knowing since they can be too tiny to cause any symptoms. Normally the tumors are found during the middle and late reproductive years of a woman. Yet, if these tumors develop into a bigger size, it is known that fibroids cause infertility and is considered as part of the symptoms of infertility.

When these fibroids change the form of the uterine cavity or are inside it, they decrease fertility by 70%. But once they are taken out, the possibility of fertility is raised back to 70%.  This drop in percentage happens because the fibroids will develop on the fallopian tube and can bother a woman’s ovulation process. On the other hand, if the fibroids envelop a huge portion of the womb, it is sure that the fibroids cause infertility and will prevent the embryo from completing the implantation.

If by any chance, fibroids do occur during a time of pregnancy, there could be a possibility of miscarriage because of the fibroids causing the woman to bleed. This is because the fibroid can be found bulging inside or block the uterine cavity. What happens is the eggs move to the female fallopian tube and stays along the lining of the uterus. And for this egg to survive, it needs a blood supply to flow into it. Apparently, if a fibroid is present, it will thin out the lining and would decrease this blood supply. If a second pregnancy happens, there can be a possibility that the egg will move onto a different direction. And at this stage, it doesn’t mean that the fibroids cause infertility.

The fibroids growth cause is still not exactly pinpointed. But as of now, its growth seems to be related to a gene that controls cell growth. During times that the gene is functioning on a normal state, the cells grow normal at the same time. But when this gene is not functioning, the cells start to divide at a very fast rate. This is when the growing of the fibroids cause infertility. The fibroids’ growth is also affected by the reproductive hormones known better as estrogen and progesterone. At times when the levels of these hormones start to decrease more timely known  to be menopause, the possibility of growth for the fibroids start to lessen, too. But again, the hormones are still an indirect cause for fibroid growth.

There are a lot of ways to treat uterine fibroids. They can be surgically removed or be treated with an anti-inflammatory. It still is best to see a doctor when symptoms do arise, especially that fibroids cause infertility.  The simplest way that these can be detected is by a pelvic test. If this is second guessed, a more definitive way to find out is by going through an ultrasound.

Great hub...I would like to add that if a couple or relationship has not conceived after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse then they should consult a doctor. I'm glad to see more people covering male infertility. I don't see a lot of people touching on blocked fallopian tubes so I guess I should start one because that can cause permanent infertility if left untreated. I have some more information on this at my blog which is and would love to put the link to this hub on there. Can't wait to see what's next from you.

this book is a an absolute

MUST: ( )..

for couples struggling to get pregnant. It was 2 years ago and I was at the end of my wits trying to figure out how to deal with my 'unexplained' infertility and so I purchased this guide as a last resort. Within a few months of following your suggestions, my husband and I became pregnant after YEARS of being unable to conceive. (Now my half year old daughter is playing on the carpet as we speak). this guide is so very user-friendly, clear concise and it works. I am now recommending this book to all infertile couples I talk to without reserve. Thank you for giving me a chance to become a mother at last!
