The benefits of Hemp Nutrition

BENEFITS OF HEMP NUTRITION

The hemp seed has all the necessary nutrients to keep the human body in a very healthy state. It is the best meat substitute known to man. Hemp nutrition is also known to reverse the effects of cancer. This is indeed possible, given that the person also adopts other healthy practices. One of the benefits of hemp nutrition is that it provides the nourishment necessary for the body to produce and maintain healthy tissues and organs. It is also known to help AIDS patients live longer. Hemp seed does this by boosting the person’s plasma blood level, which is where antibodies are developed and nurtured.

HEMP SEED PROTEIN

Hemp seed protein contains all twenty one amino acids that the body needs for cell repair and development. It also contains the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) that the body cannot produce naturally. These proteins are also bio-available. Therefore the amino acids found in hemp seeds are easily absorbed by the stomach.

Two thirds of the protein found in hemp seed is the globulin protein, edestin. This type of protein is only found in hemp seed. This protein structure is responsible for the increased rate of absorption and digestion that is associated with hemp seeds. The other one third of the protein found in hemp seed is albumin. This type of protein is also found in eggs. Therefore hemp seed can be used as a complete substitute for eggs. Albumin is also known for eliminating free radicals from the body. This is one the main benefits of hemp nutrition.

Globulin proteins are needed by the body in order for the endocrine system to function efficiently. Therefore hemp seed protein boosts the immune system by building immunoglobulins. These are antibodies that protect the body from invading pathogens, such as bacteria and virus. Globulin proteins are also used to build red blood cells, which transfers oxygen around the body. Hence hemp seed protein is a must for all smokers. The globulin protein, edestin also repairs and maintains the cell’s DNA. This is very important in maintaining proper cell function and reduces the chance of cancer growth significantly.

The twenty one amino acids found in hemp seed protein are:

· alanine

· arginine

· aspargine

· aspartic acid

· cysteine

· glutamic acid

· glutamine

· glycine

· histidine

· isoleucine

· leucine

· lysine

· methionine

· phenylalanine

· proline

· serine

· taurine

· threonine

· tryptophan

· tyrosine

· valine

· taurine

· histidine

The only other plant based source of protein that offers a complete source of protein is soy beans. However, soy protein has a disadvantage. Soy protein contains trypsin inhibitors and oligosaccharides that blocks protein absorption. This further leads to indigestion. Therefore hemp seed protein is the most efficient source of plant based proteins.

COMPOSITION OF HEMP SEED NUTRITION

The compositions of the nutrients provided by hemp seed nutrition are:

· Unsaturated fat: 39%

· Saturated fat: 5%

· Carbohydrates: 12% (dietary fibers: 7% and sugars: 3%)

· Ash: 6%

· Moisture: 5%

· Protein: 33%

The composition ratios of the fatty oils found in the hemp seed are very beneficial. It has a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids. This ratio can only be found in flax seeds and in fishes such as Salmon, which also delivers a complete source of protein. This fatty acids oil ratio found in hemp seed is known to alleviate cancers, depression, bipolar disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and cardiac problems.

Another benefit of hemp nutrition is that it’s a good source of vitamin E, which is used to eliminate free radicals from the body and delay the onset of diseases caused by free radicals. Hemp seed nutrition also provides the minerals:

  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Phosphorus
  • Magnesium
  • Zinc
  • Manganese

The benefits of hemp nutrition are excellent for those who are trying to lose weight, recover from flu, build muscles, improve memory and prevent heart attacks (specific hemp nutrition articles). Hemp seed also reduces the free radicals associated with or caused by sun bathing, air travel, chemotherapy and smoking.

Given that growing hemp for producing seeds is not a large commercial crop, it is very unlikely that it would be genetically modified or treated with commercial fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and insecticides. Hemp seed is already naturally designed to be easily digested. Hemp seed should be extracted by the cold press method similar to how olive oil is extracted.

Hemp Protein Powder
Hemp Protein Powder

Hemp seed products should be packaged as soon as possible at the factory after it is extracted to ensure freshness. After Hemp seed products are purchased and opened, it should be consumed in a timely manner and kept sealed. Because the longer it is exposed to the air, the lesser the nutritional value will be. However it will not become rancid like other oils. Hence hemp seed products should be bought in small containers that should be consumed within a short period of time.

The benefits of hemp nutrition are extravagant. There is no other animal or plant based source of protein that can match hemp's bio-available proteins needed by the body. Hemp seed nutrition has the highest ratio of polyunsaturated fats found in any plant or animal food. There is no equal to hemp seed.

It is best to buy 100% certified organic hemp seed products such as nutiva to ensure high natural quality.

Other Benefits Of Hemp

How Hemp Seed Nutrition Reduces Heart Attacks and Strokes: Shows how hemp seeds provide the correct ratio of essential fatty acids that will help in improving the overall circulatory system. The role of globular proteins in the circulatory system will be discussed. Shows how hemp nutrition can reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

How Hemp Nutrition Can Make You Smarter: Because omegas 3’s are concentrated in the brain and is not produced by the body, it has to be sourced from nuts such as hempseeds. The article also demonstrates why vitamin E is a very powerful brain antioxidant.

Vegetarian Body Building Using Hemp Seed Protein Nutrition: Building muscles has always seemed to be futile or impossible for vegetarians. However, there is a new emerging trend. Vegans are now able to enter bodybuilding competitions. Hemp seed protein has given vegans and vegetarians hope in the bodybuilding arena, find out how.

Why Hemp Fuel is the Best Alternative Energy: For too long now, all nations have become dependent on crude oil when there is a much cheaper alternative. The startup cost for growing hemp for energy is a mere fraction of drilling expeditions and nuclear plants. The economic and environmental benefits will be explored.

Rasta my friend. I had no idea that the seed was edible. How is it prepared for consumption?

basically, you would make a (blenup) smoothie. I haven't found a way to de-husk it. However, just blend hemp seed down.

To boost immunity and gain energy, blend it with honey, flax seed, banana, carrot, guinness and supligen (or milk sub).

You can also cook it like rice. It will pop open almost like a popcorn. no fixed recipe for this method as yet.

Since I read the hub I have been thinking of ways to use it. I was thinking of grinding it into a powder and use to make tea(like Chinese tea).

It should eat like a grain when cooked like rice and should have a lot of fiber. It must can be added to meat also.

Awesome hub rasta1,voted up of course!

Thanks for sharing, this will be very benefical to me,especially to my MS.

Respect!

@ Cardisa, using it as tea will slightly change the dynamics. It will now benefit the digestive track all the way through. Killing worms, repairing the colon, fixing the kidneys, repairing ulcers etc. Remember this tea will be very hot, because its oily.

@ Rastermermaid, Its obvious that you already know about hemp seed nutrition and MS. The globulin protein is needed by the nerves. The omega 3 fatty acids will coat the myelin sheets of the nerve cells. Its the perfect brain food.

What can I say Sorry I had not met you in the days of what they call "Hay"

But I don't want to sound like Dewette .

I knew you had to say something about the backsliders.

I would have given the same answer. But applaud the honesty.

No kidding rasta I love what you are doing. Nutrition is and will always be the way to go.

The only change I made thirty five years ago was the way I ate and paid dearly , but what mattered the most was the lesson I gained from it all , and that still is watch the way you eat especially people from the third worlsd nations. But like you the knowledge is never too much.

Now I knew nothing whatsoever about hemp seeds being edible . Now I know and I learned .

Thanks man and keep up the good work.

Bless.

good looking out. I do not know what to do. They must have already removed it. I think Google will atomically penalize them, since I published it first.

Hi Rasta,

Do you have any scientific studies to support your claims? I don't deny the nutritional benefits but to convince more people to grow the hemp industry, we need more facts to back up our claims.

rasta1 profile image

rasta1 4 years ago from Jamaica Author

Hi Lyn, its really the vitamins, minerals and omega 3's that really does the trick. It's a matter of individual enlightenment.

OK I went to the Manitoba Harvest link to purchase some Hemp Seed and could not find it, what gives?

It takes you to a site that sells alternative smoke, which I'm not interested in. However I would like to find some Hemp Seed products.

Interesting article, did you read the one I did called Did the Illegal Criminalization of Marijuana Lead to the Downfall of America, it describes the real reasons Hemp was made illegal which has nothing to do with getting high.

I'm looking for a way to benefit from eating it, let me know, thanx!

Respect Somethingblue. very embarrassing for me and of great inconvenience to you. I am sorry. My affiliates may have cloaked the link. I am disappointed that other people may have had the same problem. I am presently working to resolve the situation as I am researching trustworthy affiliates that offers hemp products that are organic and follow the correct production protocols.

I'll leave a comment on your hub you mentioned when the situation has been resolved asap.

Thanks man, good thing I mentioned it. A professor I had one time told me that we Americans don't care enough to actually mention those kinds of things to each other and so things never get corrected.

I mentioned it because I'm genuinely interested in finding some and believe that you can help me, thank you!

Hemp has so many beneficial qualities - great informative hub, thanks.

Do you have any ways of using hemp seeds or hemp seed oil in food instead of taking it as a supplement?

rasta1 profile image

rasta1 4 years ago from Jamaica Author

Respect Imogen, You can cook the shelled hemp as rice. You can sprinkle to oil like gravy as long you heat it up. There is a smoothie recipe @ http://hubpages.com/health/Vegetarian-Body-Buildin...
