The Priority That Is You
Music to Live By...
"I'm gonna take this moment that I'm in right now. Stop the craziness somehow. Leave it all behind me. No one's going to find me. I've got nothing to win and I've got nothing to lose, just trying to walk in my own two shoes. Gotta take the time now. It's time for me to find out who I am." (Who I Am by David Archuleta)
Life is a Journey
Life is a journey, and it is beautiful. Everyday we are faced with problems and situations that we may have little or even no control over. Let's imagine for a moment that you are driving down the road. Everything is going great until you hit a huge bump. Your tires go flat. At times like this we are faced with two decisions. The first is to give up, sit there and let the issue overwhelm us. The second is to take a moment, access the situation, and create a plan to get you moving along down the road. Which are you going to choose?
Naturally, the second choice is the better option - but let's say you are accessing the situation and creating that plan and you encounter a large about of anxiety or even depression. Maybe you are even confused because you have so many options for getting that tire of yours fixed. You have a lot of good friends and family members. Everyone wants to help you, but each individual is saying something a little different.
"You should call this number." or "You can fix the tire yourself. Here is how you do it..." or even "Don't call that company - they take forever to fix anything." Eventually, you are going to have to make some decision or else sit there miserable.
Often people do not realize, myself included, that final decisions about you should be made by you and you should be happy with that decision. There is so much craziness in the world and so much to do, but you have to get a handle of the situation yourself.
You are always your number one priority and before you can accomplish anything or even help anyone else you have got to help yourself. Create a plan, make a decision, and stick with it no matter what anyone else is saying because this is your life and your journey.
