Top 7 Things to Ease Your Arthritic Knee Pain so you can Avoid Medications, Injections and Surgery
Dr. Alexandra Schnee, Helping to Ease Knee Pain
Here’s a list of the top 7 things that you can start doing today to help ease your arthritic knee pain in order to avoid medications, knee injections and knee surgery.
1. Start taking glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM
I am certain that there are pharmaceutical companies that would love to have you believe that supplements don’t work and that nothing BUT ‘their drug’ is going to relieve your pain (while causing diarrhea, kidney failure, and death). However, there are many MORE studies that prove the efficacy of supplements; especially glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM for its ability to help ease arthritic knee pain.
2. Start taking cod liver oil daily
Cod liver oil is a great source of omega 3 and Vitamin D. Research indicates that bone, joint and muscle pain is exacerbated if there are low levels of Vitamin D. Research also indicates that patients who take NON SYNTHETIC, HIGH QUALITY glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin, and MSM ALONG WITH OMEGA 3 notice a significant difference in their arthritic pain. The latest scientific findings show that people who combine glucosamine and omega 3 get up to 80% pain relief, with decreased morning stiffness. Pain in the hips was reduced by over 48% and in the knees by more than 55%. Please note: most cod liver oil today is stripped from vitamin D and lots of other nutrients. Some are replaced with synthetic vitamin D, but that’s not what you want. So make sure it is real, raw and fermented cod liver oil.
3. Find a doctor in your area that specializes in Cold Laser Therapy for the knee joint.
Don’t just choose a doctor who has a ‘cold laser’ in their office. In order to make a difference the doctor must specialize in cold laser therapy and only treat knee conditions. If properly done cold laser therapy treatments can make a huge difference in your life especially if you have knee pain that keeps you from doing things. For example, if you have difficulty walking or standing for any length of time, climbing stairs, getting up from a chair or even sleeping at night then it’s time TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Pain medicine, anti-inflammatories, knee injections and surgery ALL HAVE SIDE EFFECTS! Cold laser therapy is a conservative, painless treatment that eliminates pain, swelling and helps heal and repair an area without surgery. I’ve been treating knee pain sufferers using cold laser therapy as part of my knee program since 2001 and I know that it works. My Cold Laser Knee Program is NOT a cure-all; however, most patients with SEVERE arthritic, ‘bone on bone’ type knee pain find that it provides them sufficient knee pain relief so that they can start enjoying life again and avoid knee surgery.
4. Drink plenty of water daily. Do not drink water flavored with sugar or sweeteners.
Cartilage is made up of 70% water.
5. Stop eating processed foods and sugars or eat less of them.
6. Make an effort to eat mostly raw whole foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts).
Keep in mind red meat has arachidonic acid which causes an inflammatory reaction in the body and often exacerbates arthritic symptoms.
7. Start exercising at least 4 times a week.
Start exercising once you are no longer in the acute stage otherwise you will probably damage the joint more.
Make an effort to incorporate these 7 things and you will feel a difference in your arthritic knee pain. The ultimate reward will be a pain-free knee and the ability to avoid knee surgery in the future.
