Images that Cause me to feel tranquil or peaceful.

Tranquility

What does it mean to feel tranquil? Here is a definition I found of tranquil -To be free from commotion or disturbance; free from anxiety or tension; steady or even. Synonymous with Calm. We all know what it means to feel peaceful. We are also learning more and more how healthy it is for us to feel less stress in life.

Life get so busy sometimes, and the worries of this life can really get to us. So it is one thing to "know" what tranquility or peaceful means, but it is another thing altogether to "feel" those things! Given the choice, I think its fair to say people want calm over chaos in life. That is true of me anyway, how about you?

Photos of Things or Places that Make me feel Peaceful

I have numbered 9 different photos in this article and they all have some image or feel to them that seems peaceful or tranquil, to me. If you see a smaller image, and want to see it larger, simply click on that image.

Gardens

You will notice several garden photos. I cannot deny it, I am a super huge fan of gardens of all kinds. I just absolutely love them. To me, gardens just exude peace and tranquility. Even the couple of formal gardens I share here bring so much beauty to the senses when there or even viewing the photos sometimes.

Gardens seem to bring a sort of refreshment to the soul. Perhaps that is just me, but I find them a great way to unwind, or "get away" for a time during a busy period in my life. Its a healthy "addiction" I think, to find a place where there are gardens that you can walk around in. Taking the beauty of nature in, while getting fresh air and some vitamin D from the sunshine. It doesn't get much better than that, well except maybe for a hammock!

Water

Many of the photos contain water as well. I can't quite tell you what a body of water does for me, be it large or small. I can try however. It brings me a deep joy and calm. Water is so "alive" and peaceful at the same time. Sure, at times it can be intense and scary. I enjoy the Pacific ocean as well, and that is not a "calm water", though the same feelings come. I just love it, there is really no other way to say it. So naturally, there are images here of water and even some man made waterfalls, which show more movement.

Flowers

As much as I love flowers, I don't showcase many in this article. Many flowers give off more of an energy to me, than a peaceful tranquil feel. Though many of the feelings tend to overlap. I show some simple white, yet beautiful flowers here. They are so peaceful looking, nothing flashy. Just simple and beautiful.

Trees

Trees are amazing, and I think they are wonderful. They are almost up there with bodies of water, but maybe not quite! Trees are so strong, and give so much to us as human beings. I think of the story of the giving tree. That sums up how special trees can be. In these images, some are strong and beautiful, some are small and decorative. I love them all, as do birds and so many different kinds of wildlife.

* I hope you enjoyed a little tour of what makes me feel tranquil and peaceful in life. This is really just the tip of the iceberg, as there are so many other things I could have included here. When life gets a little bit busy and crazy feeling, I can come here and look at my tranquil spots even while at home. Thank you for stopping by. If you had a favorite picture or one to comment on, I would love to hear from you below. Wishing you much peace and tranquility in your journeys!

All the photos are lovely but #6 is my favorite because it captures all the elements you've listed in this hub. There's also a gracefulness about Weeping Willow trees that I find very relaxing.

Voted up, useful, awesome, beautiful and interesting.

On'Sts, we must be kindred spirits as my sentiments echo yours, gardens, water and trees, thought I think I would put trees on a par with water, they all do it me me. Being there amongst these places in nature is just the best feeling of calm and peace and nothing comes close to matching this - maybe being with family, but only when they are all happy :) :)

And I agree, flowers excite me rather than provide calm, so they are a different kettle of fish!! So to speak.

Failing being there photos are almost as good and I can loose myself looking at beautiful photos - easy. I love your photos here, I think the little white flower is called a wind flower or japanese anenome, its so graceful. The willow tree and the bridge really does it for me, reminds me of the willow pattern plate. I could quite easily sit there on the edge of the pond and just soak it all in, in silence, for hours.

A beautiful calm inspiring hub with beautiful photos. Am voting up and SHARING!!

Hello Fennelseed, So glad to know others feel the same way as I do! I think that is wonderful, kindred spirits indeed. :) The more I read of your comment there, the more I can see how that is true.

It makes me so happy that you enjoyed the photos and can imagine how you could sit for a long time taking it all in. Those weeping willow trees seem to have something very special about them, and they have always been near the top of my list of favorite kinds of trees.

Your visit means a lot, and thank you for the votes and comment. I agree with you, short of being in a place in person, photos do wonders in the mean time! :) Have a great week. Paula

I love your photos you posted. When I am feeling the pressures of my busy days, I try to sit outside and feel the warm breeze blowing across my skin, while sunning under the trees, surrounded by my flower beds. Beautiful hub! Thanks!

Thanks for this beautiful hub! My favorite is the colorful mosaic- it may not be what some people think of as peaceful as trees, water, etc., but those always make me feel happier! =)

Hello Samsons, thank you very much for your kind words and visit to my hub. I know how it feels to feel anxious then to enjoy a peaceful view and appreciate the calm. :)

As for photo software, most of my photos are not edited. If I do edit, sometimes it is in my camera, but most times I don't have time for that. I also on occasion will just use windows photo viewer that came with my laptop. I often don't like what the auto touch up does to my photo, so I usually leave it or try to crop things or straighten them if need be. Do you recommend any software or use any? Thanks for your visit and comment.

Hello Tlpoague, I love the scene you described of being surrounded by flower beds and sunning under a tree when stressed out. That sounds like a great way to unwind. I bet if we all did that more, we would carry less stress and be healthier for it. Thanks for your visit and imagery, that was so nice. Have a lovely evening.

Hello Seekingpeace, I like that one too, and agree that the mosaic may not be the most peaceful for them, but it brings a joy and a beauty all its own. To me, that can be so enjoyable and peaceful. I am glad you shared which you liked, and thank you for the visit and comment. I really appreciate it.

Hello John, it brings me great joy to know that such nature photos bring peace to other people as well. Nature has a way with such things, and we need but look at it, get out and enjoy it once in a while. When we cannot, photos can suffice, and help to bring at least a little perspective, like a breath of fresh air.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment my hub, I really appreciate it. Have a nice evening.

Hi again, Yes I use MicroSoft Digital Imaging. I download all photos to computer for sort and saving and use MDI for editing, cropping, enhancing, color correction etc. I also use GIMP, the free version of PhotoShop some.

I don't know if MDI is still available or not I've had mine for a number of years. Thanks for the inquiry...

oceansunsets,

I am scheduled to lead a group at Anderson Gardens, a Japanese garden in Rockford, Illinois. You have motivated me to take my camera. How beautiful. Oh, I love gardens.

Hi Samsons, I will have to look into both of those, as they sound great. I have heard of both, but never used them. Its great to hear what other photographers like to use, and what they tend to stick with that works. It can help a great deal. Now that I am thinking about this more, I am kind of surprised I don't have more of a "system" in this sense for my photos. Have a great week! Thanks again for sharing. :)

Hello Gloshei, thanks so much for your comment, and it makes me so happy to hear that. Sometimes, they are just the kind of thing I want to see as well. Life can get so stressful, and peaceful and calming images can be so refreshing. Have a nice week, and thank you for stopping by.

GmaGoldie, that is wonderful that you are leading a tour to the Japanese garden in Rockford Illinois! That is one that I hope to go to one day, but haven't been able to see as of yet. It thrills me to know that I helped to encourage you in some way to take your camera. I, like you just love gardens. I hope you and the others have a very wonderful time there. What a great time of year too coming up here!
