Tried and tested stretch mark remedies for women
Stretch marks are unsightly marks that appear on the skin because of excess weight gain or weight loss. Shea butter comes from the Shea nut; the fat is extracted from the nut and can be used as a moisturizer. The best way of applying shea butter is to melt it down by placing a cup of shea butter in a bowl of hot water. Use the oil to rub on affected areas twice daily.
Cocoa butter is the fat that is extracted from the cocoa bean. It contains plenty of vitamin E, which is known to improve the elasticity of the skin. Again, melt the butter and place it on affected areas twice a day.
Olive oil can be used as a moisturizer and is most affective when rubbed on the affected area twice daily. You can also put a few drops in your bath for added moisture.
For the special remedy, you will need the following
- Small plastic bowl
- Small plastic mixing spoon
- Two teaspoons of Shea butter (unrefined)
- Two teaspoons of cocoa butter (unrefined)
- One tablespoon of olive oil
- Two tablespoons of Dark brown sugar
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until it forms a smooth paste. Be sure to wash your hands before and after mixing, and applying to skin. Apply the mixture to affected areas and leave for half an hour. Rinse the mixture off with warm water; make sure you have removed all of the mixture. Once you have finished moisturize with shea butter. This procedure is best carried out at night; you should aim to do this three to four times a week.
Drink plenty of water
Many people forget that hydration is very important for keeping the skin look great. Therefore, you should aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. If you are trying to improve the condition of your skin, if you can do it try to up this to 10 glasses a day.
Stretch marks are unsightly, but remember you do not have to spend a fortune to see some results. Be wary of products that promise to provide you with results. Very rarely will your stretch marks disappear completely after using a cream. They will much likely fade but not disappear completely.
