Use Discipline To Reach Your Goals
Do you want to save money or have more money in your possession? Do you want to lose weight? Would you like to quick smoking? Would you like to be more organized? would you like a better career or improve in the one you have? At some point in our lives we would answer yes to any one of those questions and the truth is, these are things that we can actually attain in our lives. But we can't obtain them without one key element in our lives. That element is discipline. Discipline, according to Dictionary.com is "activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill." So how can you apply discipline in your life to achieve the goals that you want?
You first has to start with a goal in the mind. You must have a clear view of what your goals are and a realistic time table to achieve them. For some thing can be the simple part. They already know what they want "I want to save $1,000 by the end of the year" or "I want to lose 20 pounds". Now that the goal has been made, discipline is what actually will help you carry out the goal. Now this is the part that's not very simple. Discipline includes learning what you have to do to meet your goal, and actually stick with it long enough to see the achievement of them. Sounds good, right? But it's not as easy as it sounds.
We live in an instant gratification society. Home washers and dryers have eliminated washing clothes by hand, and microwave and confection ovens have eliminated having to slave over a hot stove all day. video on demand services have allowed us the luxury of watching programs we want to when we want to. We have gotten so accustom to having things quickly that we feel that this "quickness" should be applied in all areas of our lives. Unfortunately it is. You can't lose 20 pounds overnight. To do so in a healthy way will include weeks of changing eating habits, eliminating some foods all together or eating them in moderation along with exercise. And to improve in your career or reaching out for a better one may mean going back to school which can take anywhere from weeks, to months or years. This is when discipline is necessary and beneficial. Discipline means keeping your goals in the forefront of your mind and not allowing your feelings at the moment to control you or overwrite the work it will take to get to where you want to be. The mind is very powerful, and where the mind goes, the body can eventually follow. By keeping your mind fixed on your goals despite the sacrifices or discomfort you may have to endure temporarily, you will set yourself on the right path to getting where you want to be in life.
Nothing worth having will come to you overnight. You cannot achieve success in life without using discipline as an important navigation tool. There is nothing more rewarding than reaching the top of the mountain knowing you gave it your all, and you succeeded! When in use, discipline is powerful and will help you see straight clear to your goals.
