When The Unexpected Happens

There is no doubt that life at times can become overwhelming; a death of a loved one(s), loss of a relationship, a pet, job, career, stress, depression, anxiety, when someone lies on you, diagnosis of a chronic illness or disease, distressing weather conditions, horrendous tragedies or any other unforeseen crisis or possible worst-case scenario. This can readily bring on acute stress, disappointment, despair, anxiety, depression and sickness. Denial is not healthy.

One must of course face whatever has happened. It is healthy to mourn or grieve the apparent loss or setback. Momentarily it is okay; but don’t camp there! It is not easy when the unexpected happens. One must first begin to acknowledge however it is you are feeling in order to move forward and embark on to embracing your inner emotional healing. Don't let it paralyze you... Trust God as you move forward!

Yes, at some point in time you will experience some type of traumatic experience. But, this does not have to become the theme of your life. If you are centered you do not have to go into a counterproductive mode. For a season your hands may even be tied, rendering a sense of helplessness. You do not want to make life changing decisions while under distress. This will only further complicate your situation and take you further away from resolve. Prepare for change, life is a perpetual transition!

It may even get worse before it gets better. But, know it is only for a season, at some point it will get better! Therefore when the unexpected happens you must make a conscious goal to go through it! Not to stay in it! In order to do this you must learn how to depend on someone who is dependable. Although well meaning if you know someone buckles under distress or flies off the handle all the time. They may not be a viable source to help you through. Preferably someone who can be objective and knows how to go through a crisis.

God is totally dependable! God is a God of order. He can bring you through it and out of it! The one constant you can count on is GOD! Transitions help us become who we were meant to be. One might ask; where was God when this happened? He is just a prayer away! He is in the same place He was when He allowed His Son to be crucified and die on the cross for the sins of the world! Although He died, He arose with ALL power! It is because of Jesus we can always have HOPE when going through!

Planning in advance is great. But I know for a fact no matter how much you plan you cannot avoid the unexpected. There is always something waiting in the wings. Have you ever heard the saying; “ You are either in a storm, coming out of a storm or headed into one ….” You do not have to live your life paranoid. Life is full of the unexpected, some by design and some by course. God has given us so many natural ways in which to see His beauty all around us! Look around and simply begin to enjoy the plethora of wonderful landscapes about you. They are reminders that life is so much bigger than us! God is able! Learn how to persevere, hold on during a crisis and turn to God! Learn how to invite God into the messiness. Here is the time to develop your spiritual muscles!

It is because of God’s unfailing Love for us that we can count on Him and look to Him when the unexpected happens! He can turn it around! All His promises are true! God has promised to take us through everything! This is why it is so important to develop an ongoing relationship with Him! Knowing of God is not the same as KNOWING GOD personally! Start by building an intimate relationship while things are going well. This is the time to develop your healthy coping skills. It is important to learn how to become resilient! We can never totally prepare but we know that life and death are everyday occurrences for someone. This also helps us develop compassion.

We in the 21st century are living within a time where we can expect the unexpected. The spiritual warfare has heightened. The boundaries of what is moral or immoral have been blurred and lifted. The minds of many are confused and many forms of both foreign and domestic terrorism persists. Many or few often band together to rebel against the authorities resulting only in further chaos. Our United States of America government was "SHUT DOWN!" President Obama and the Congress reached a major impasse! The financial status and security of many has been jeopardized. The Supreme court even voted against the WORD of the LORD in favor of "same sex" relationships. Notice the plethora of unusual extreme weather conditions, the resurgence of racial tension and senseless killing and mass murders throughout the world. Evil persists. We must PRAY! We who are believers must always look to the Lord and seek His Will & His Way above all else in every and ALL situations. It is important that we share the GOODNESS of the LORD daily.... Time is of the essence. It is in Him we can always find comfort, solace and peace. GOD'S WORD and HIS principles have not changed. There is absolutely nothing to hard for GOD!

Balance is key. However in order to balance it out we must look on the bright side. You are still here! Ultimately God has everything and everyone under His control! We can really only find true "Security & Significance" in Him! There is more to come! As long as there is breath in our bodies we are living! The breath of life is a gift from God! Look around us God has given us the seasons to show us how things can change. Just think , it is so beautiful that after a long cold Winter. A beautiful fresh Spring comes forth bringing new life with it! Then a long hot Summer comes welcoming a nice cool Fall!

“In this greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved with various trials, that the genuineness of your Faith, being more precious than gold that perishes, thought it is tested by fire, may be found to praise , honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoiced with Joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your Faith ;the SALVATION of your souls.”

Once we realize that we were meant to live life to please God it really makes all the difference in the world! When the unexpected happens, you really can make it! Remember, there is more in store! You can always count on His Word!

God’s Love lasts through eternity! When we have God we have everything we will ever need for Life, Living & Eternity. Absolutely nothing gets by Him that comes our way! Everything is under His control and His promise to never leave or forsake us is so True! I PETER 1 says:

“All flesh is as grass, And all glory of man

as the flower of the grass,

The grass withers

And its flowers falls away,

But THE WORD of THE LORD endures forever.”

~ PRAISE GOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH! WE CAN ALWAYS TRUST GOD & HIS WORD! ~

I have a very different outlook than most people for when the unexpected happens. I like anyone else goes into shock or disbelief but I quickly pull myself back together and put all in God's hands because I cannot do anything of a death occurs. I can only cry and miss the loved one but for me death is like the person is gone on a long vacation and when they will be ressurected we will be together again.

Many times I look at my Mom's picture and I say.."Mommy, I miss you so much, I can't wait until your return." That is oehope that we have the ones who are believers in God.

One must live and enjoy every moment. I have eyes to see, a nose to smell a mouth to eat, a tongue to talk, ears to hear, arms to hug someone, hands to do anything, feet to walk..many are dumb and deaf, no arms, no feet and some no legs either.

I have sight to enjoy the slightes thing, some don't and cannot even see a beautiful sunset, only feel the warmth of it.

I live in a country where am not without food or clothing, doctors are available and it cost me nothing. I'm 66 and pretty good shape..in many countries at 45 a person is dead.

I have a roof over my head..and a bed with a pillow..Jesus ddidn't have that and many homeless sleep on the ground..in a cardboard box or in a doorway or an alley..easy prey to be robbed, raped or killed.

With my hands I can write in here, feed myself, clothe mmyself, bathe myself ..many don't have hands or fingers or arms to do that or hold someone they love or pet their pet nor can they put their hands together to pray.

I have a voice, I can sing, I can laugh, I can cry, I can do many things, I can praise the Lord.

I have feet to go where I want, to danse, to run, to jump, to do almost anything.

My whole body is a wonder, magnificent gift that I appreciate every day.

I have a brain that is healthy..many don't..many are mentally impaired.

I was very lucky when I was born to have all the above and be healthy and born with all my body intact.

What more could anyone want?

DancingRedFeather,

You are right when one passes away who knows the Lord it really is like they are on a long vacation. Of course you miss them but you can now think of them at peace and no longer suffering or in pain. It really is wonderful knowing that you will see them again!!

The point is to prepare yourself by developing your coping skills before something does happens; which you have already done. This greatly impacts your physical, mental and emotional well being! Life on this side of Heaven is not very long. Therefore I want to encourage others to do the same. To enjoy as much of life as possible despite what is going on! It is important not to take life for granted! Things can happen unexpectedly yet, you can still always find something good to focus on!

Thank You for sharing! You have shared some wonderful ways that everyone on some level can relate to... Blessings

Satan loves to keep us in the prison of our own mind. He makes us believe premises that are not true and keeps niggling us with thoughts that are lies. I am reminded of the song "Mr. Bojangles" where the man loses his dog and after forty years he still grieves. I'm sure it was a nice dog but not worth turning to drink. I'm sure that whatever pain the man in that story had was hooked to the loss of the dog. Obviously there were lies set in his head. The enemy is so good at what he does. We all need to pray for each other and hold each other up each and every day. Love you sister.

This hub is filled with naked realities about life. There is something in the nature of life that presents one difficulty after another. Sometimes, it seems that before we can recover from one situation or one problem in life, we run head on into another. Before we can recuperate from one difficulty, we find ourselves right smack in the middle of another. At times, problems mount and seem to surge out of control. But, I have noticed something peculiar under the sun. Nothing stays the same. Problems, pain, troubles do not last always. God gives us the gift of respite, a time-out, a refreshing, a break from the difficulties. How we choose to use it is our choice. But these are the times when we can experience great moments of joy, moments of special remembrances, moments of exhilaration and appreciation, moments of smiles and humor, moments of praise and thanksgiving. As you so perceptively stated Ogans, "Absolutely nothing gets by Him that comes our way!" Even as we experience turbulence in our lives, God is working everything out according to His purpose and our good. This is an excellent exposition on life.

No body, Thank you for stopping by. I want you to get you a simple little Praise Song of your choice ready and prepared. So you can sing the enemy away! Praise is POWERFUL ! Do not let him take your JOY the Lord has given you! You cannot change anything that has happened… ALL the wonderful things that the Lord has done in your life certainly can override whatever he tries to torment you with! DON’T LET him pitch a tent and camp out anywhere near your Temple!

I have a scripture for you that I am sure you already know: “Finally brethren, Whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE, Whatever things are JUST, Whatever things are PURE, whatever things are LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD report, if there is any Virtue and if there is anything Praiseworthy – MEDITATE on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the GOD of PEACE WILL BE WITH YOU!” Again thank brother and remember there is VICTORY in your PRAISE! In His Love & Blessings!

RevLady,

Life certainly does present its share of difficulties. And yes they can come in waves. But you are right “nothing stays the same.” I have come to accept that as a handmaiden of the Lord it is expected. Yet, because of this I am acutely aware that God’s presence is steadfast. There is a wonderful praise song “Trouble Don’t Last Always” I find much delight and peace in praising the Lord, before, during and after trouble.

Yes, God does give us “respite time to rest and refresh” as you a say. Words cannot express my Thankfulness, Trust and Love that I have in the LORD! I am eternally grateful for His intangible, invaluable blessings and presence in my life! Whatever difficulties that occur can never transcend the precious moments and memories that HE has allowed in my life thus far! Since I know that “Absolutely nothing gets by Him that comes our way!” I seek Him daily and stay close to Him. I also know “That it in Him we live and move and have our being.” Thank you for your insightful words of wisdom and encouragement. You are a blessing to me, everyone on hubpages and I am sure others as well! Yes isn’t it good to know that God is working it out according to His purpose and our good! Thank you for sharing & caring, Blessings!!!

Itakins,

God is infinite and so much more than our finite minds could ever imagine. So, I say “invite God into the messiness” because He is so real to me! I believe it is important to relate to Him in a real way. To get to know Him intimately! He already knows anyway and is right there …. We really do just need to invite Him in; because He does not force Himself into our lives or stuff… Thank you and thank you again as well for taking the time to stop by, and please do come again! Blessings!

Whenever something comes along that hurts, I remember Romans 8:28. All things work together for good for those who love God and are the called according to His purpose. It always holds true if you're willing to look to HIm for whatever could become good out of tragedy. The Bible says to praise God for all things. That means especially the things that break our hearts. That's the hardest time to prise HIm. It just tells Him, "Lord I am hurting, you know how I am hurting, but I am going to be obedieant and praise You anyay and go through this with You." In the end, you'll see how God has used this hurt to make you into a better image of His Son Jesus Christ. " I can do all things through Christ." This is narrow road that leads to life. No, it's not the easy road, but many are going down the broad road that leads to destruction. Begin starting your day with the Lord. Build a strong relationship with Him! Get gut honest with the Lord. He already knows you better than you know yourself, but it builds intimacy. You are His workmanship. He is your King,He is responsible for you. He is the only comfort for a broken heart! He's never closer to us than when we are mourning. Wherever you are now begin to draw near to Jesus and He will draw near to you. Resist the devil and he will flee. That's what our Bible says. Good hub, look forward to reading more.

But we know that it is the path that the Lord has designed for us! Yes, “We can do ALL things through CHRIST!” Intimacy is wonderful it is here we develop a closeness that yields security! What a wonderful King He is!

Thanks again for another inspiring Motivational Hub. I enjoyed it. I looked at the picture above which said "seasons change" and it reminded me of a Joel Osteen Message I listened to only yesterday - "Being Pruned, so you can Bloom". He said there are different seasons and most of the time, out of the difficult times come beautiful Miracles and gave lots of personal examples.

He likened it to childbirth - the most pain is just before the baby arrives. (sorry, too much info. lol but we're ladies. lol).

So I guess we should look for the good in those Unexpected Events knowing God see's it all.

Regards. :)

My family and I have experienced our share of the unexpected happenings. At the times I was not at the right place with God, they were far more devastating but thank God for his grace in teaching me to stay in that place of balance as he helps me to do so.

I love your images by this Hub. One of my favorite things to do when I'm struggling with something, is to visit some of God's glorious creation and it helps bring peace to my heart. That and seeing the smile and laughter of a baby or a child. Something about those two things bring God's joy to me at times I need an extra uplift!

Thanks for the Hub!

You have no idea how much I needed to read this. I wrote a recent hub "God Dropped Me" and what you wrote is like the answer I needed. Itis really hard to get past something when it is still happening or it effects all areas of your life. I've weathered many things but most recently I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and within months I was near bed-ridden and no job, losing money, feeling useless, hard to play with my toddler- it's been rough. Why me God? I didn't know what exactly to pray for or how to with so many things going on at once. Thanks for these words you have written

Izetti, I am so glad that you have been inspired. KNOW the Lord LOVES YOU! Although it may feel at times like He is far away; He is just a prayer away! His promise to never leave or forsake you is true! There are many things that happen we cannot quite explain or understand…

Sometimes it can be overwhelming when we have a sudden illness come upon us or we become physically challenged in some way! I just want to suggest taking some quiet time and if there is any unconscious resent lingering release it to Him… Our bodies are so sensitive. Never underestimate the power of your mind to help facilitate healing as you focus on the Lord! When your joints are experiencing pain and won’t let you move like you want to it can be rather painful... It really helps to take moments periodically and speak healing to your body….. Thank you, I am still so thankful to have found this hub at the right time and it was just what I needed right away from the title. I need to believe again- believe my body can get better, believe God can heal and believe I still have a purpose.

Izetti, "Have FAITH in GOD!" Trust GOD and BELIEVE! God has a purpose for you... "Being CONFIDENT of this, that HE who began a GOOD work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of JESUS CHRIST!" Philippians 1. Meditate on this! Be encouraged in the Lord! GOD truly is able! GOD BLESS & Keep You!

Magnificent photos and message. We all need this hub and we must refer to it often, so I am saving it in my fav's. Since my beloved and beautiful son passed, there are times when I can barely even allow myself to think of him as it hurts to much. Your beautiful and inspiring hub helps me through those times. I love My Father in Heaven and know that one day I shall receive peace and an understanding of why this had to happen. Cancer is a horrible, evil, destructive disease. I pray each day to find a cure and prevention for this insidious life taker.

Bless you, dear one and thankyou from my heart.

Vocalcoach, Thank YOU! My heartfelt compassion goes out to you on the passing of your son. I pray that the love bond you will forever share with him gives you Peace… My father passed away after battling with cancer it has been almost fifteen years but you still miss them…

Just recently my son has been very seriously ill they did not know what was happening and I have been back and forth to the hospital over the last few weeks. I have spent a lot of time at the hospital…. He is now home with his wife and family… However it took many specialist but the hospital finally admitted that the medication they gave him caused kidney failure… He has always been exceptionally healthy…. I say this to say we have seen him go through… We had to really TRUST God because they admitted they did not know what to do…. It is by the grace of God He is recovering… We continue to pray! Our children belong to GOD and are only entrusted to us for a season. The love we share will last through eternity…. I share this to let you know that I can relate on a personal level! Seeing your child suffering is not easy! I realize this is not quite the same…. This does not make it easier losing your son but why some stay on this side of heaven longer are shorter will be a mystery until we see the Lord face to face… We learn to appreciate the time we have on this side of heaven knowing that our final home is Heaven! You will see him face to face again…

I pray that the gift of music that the Lord has given you help you through this… Music is a wonderful way to express your inner emotions perhaps a song to honor his memory… One thing we can rest assured of is God is eternal we can always have HOPE in HIM!

Again I pray that this is helpful! God Bless You and Thank You for sharing, In His Love, Grace, Peace & Blessings!

This hub was very encouraging, thank you. My family experienced a terrible tragedy in April of this year and it is only by God's grace, I'm able to get through another day. I just keep calling on His name, stay in the Word and surround myself with the wonderful people in my home church. The Lord is surely the lifter of our head during unexpected times.

This hub was so refreshing and encouraging. I feel like my faith has been tested to the point where I feel all hope is gone, but this was a great reminder that storms are the way of of life and I just have to keep holding on. Sometimes I feel foolish for my faith, but when I really think about it - the trials have only made be better and stronger(internally and externally). I don't know what God's plan is for me, but I am certain that HE is definitely in control. In the meantime, I am patiently waiting for the blessings I feel are going on behind the scenes. This too shall pass! Be Blessed.

kai777, Wonderful! So glad that you have been encouraged and refreshed! There are times when life can become difficult and some of these tedious tests can become overwhelming… But Praise be to God we have Him as an Anchor! He CAN and WILL bring us through every time we must shift our focus to Him! Yes! He is in control! Yes! You can TRUST that He WILL work out whatever is going on for your GOOD!

It is understandable feeling a bit foolish when you have strong FAITH! That’s because what seems impossible with man is POSSIBLE with The LORD! When you have FAITH you do not have to see your way, you just KNOW that in HIS time that the LORD will lead you through whatever you are going through to a BETTER place! Your HOPE is in The LORD! I pray that you are refueled for the journey and The Fruits of HIS Spirit continue to multiply in your life! REMEMBER! All God’s Promises are TRUE! Although it can feel like it at times, I want to remind you that you're not alone! THE Lord has more in store for you…. Keep looking to The Lord! "He is The Author & Finisher of your FAITH!" In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!

Lyricwriter, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner... I am so glad that this has been helpful! Being honest with yourself is a great place to start! Everyone has made mistakes and as long as we are here on this side of heaven it is to learn and grow spiritual. This is why we all NEED Jesus as our Personal Savior! As you spend more time learning about how much The Lord Loves you your FAITH will grow… You will learn how to TRUST Him more as well…

The Lord knows exactly where you are! He knows everything that has happened in your life! I do not think that you are being punished…. What has happened cannot be undone. What an awesome reminder that in times of grief and stress there is great comfort in God's presence. I so loved what you wrote in this quote: "Look around and simply begin to enjoy the plethora of wonderful landscapes about you. They are reminders that life is so much bigger than us! God is able! Learn how to persevere, hold on during a crisis and turn to God!"

I also loved the stunningly beautiful photos you included in this hub.

Voted up across the board except for funny.

My Mom recently passed away and I feel I was meant to read this comforting hub today.

Thanks for spreading God's love, grace, peace and blessings through your writings.

Happyboomernurse, God Bless You! My sincere Condolences to you on the passing of your Mother. It is never easy nor does anyone or anything take her place. It is hard to explain how one feels; it is somewhat liken to feeling like an orphan… So freely mourn and weep when necessary the loss you feel. Let it take you to happier moments... Of course you miss her! But then REJOICE and be glad that our heavenly Father Blessed you with such a great Mom. Cherish and delight in the many wonderful memories you shared together.

Rest knowing that she is healed and at Peace! You will see her again and there will be a glorious reunion! Now through forever you will carry her wherever you go in your heart!

You are so welcome. The pleasure is mine knowing that this has brought you a bit of comfort! May our heavenly Father the God of ALL comfort, comfort you. GOD truly is FAITHFUL! Thank you for stopping by to share, In HIS Love, Grace, Mercy, Joy, Peace and Blessings! Again God Bless You!
