Weight Watchers Offers An Effective Solution To Yoyo Dieting
When my wife announced to me that she would be joining weight watchers, I supported her decision and kept my scepticism to myself. However my skepticism quickly dissolved into amazement as I watched my wife's body morph into the shape that she (and I) desired. So effective was her program that I decided to mimic her actions. I calculated my daily points allowance and was able to eat anything as long as I stuck to the pre-set point limit. At first I still ate all of my favorite which translated to my daily points allowance filling up rather quickly leaving my very little room for dessert or snacks. I found that i was not eating enough nutritious or filling quality foods by carrying on this way. I had to make better food choices. I learned early on that while on weight watchers you can eat like a king if you choose the correct types of foods which are healthy, filling and low in points. Every now and then I indulge in one of my favorite foods and add it to my points count. It is not considered cheating, it is actually considered part of the plan. Yes, you are 'allowed' to cheat... so it's not really cheating then is it? I believe that this type of flexibility is what is atributed to the success of this program. It is a realistic way to look at eating in moderation.
Points Plus VS The Old Points System
Recently Weight Watchers introduced a new way to calculate your points called the Points Plus system. It calculates the points value of foods using four values: fat, fiber, carbs, and protein. The old system uses points derived from three values: calories, fat, and fiber. I personally prefer the old system, it was the way I successfully lost the bulk of my weight. I tried the new system briefly, but I could not abandon the proven old points system. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you are a weight watchers member they do a good job of supplying you with all the necessary tools to succeed. You are given literature, You also have the option to buy a handy dandy points calculator. Watching my wife do her program I was rather impressed by the iPhone app which she installed on her iPod touch. I was not able to use her app because to get the app from Weight Watchers you must be a member. I was however able to use a free Android App by the name of WWdiary. The advantage of this app was I was able to use the old points system with it. It is my all in one app solution to both calculate my points and keep track of what I ate during the day.
Avoid Temptation With A Food Journal
As a human, I would often get tempted to cheat beyond the limits of the Weight Watchers system. Whenever I would have these moments of weakness I would simply fire up my point calculator app and take the time to plug in the nutritional values to get the points value of the food I was about to eat. By the time I've got the points value of the food in question, my craving would usually pass. If the craving is still there, logic kicks in and I no longer want to use up so many points out of my daily allowance. I found this method to work almost every time when faced with temptation.
