This story that surrounds this diet is nothing but an urban legend because it has been around for years.

Basically, The Sacred Heart Diet is a low-calorie soup diet. The veggies and broth make the soup quite filling. The soup can also hinder you from eating any heavy food and it may help block any hunger pangs. There are dieters who believed that this soup diet is a type of cleansing diet because there were some of them who experienced going to the bathroom several times a day starting day 2.

The main ingredients for The Sacred Heart Diet recipe are as follows - 2 cans of beans, a bunch of celery chopped, 2 large canned tomatoes, green onions, beef bouillon for flavoring, 2 lbs. of carrots, 1/2-1/4 head of cabbage - shredded, 1 piece bell pepper, chopped mushrooms, vegetable broth.

You may season it will salt, pepper and other flavorings to make it more tasty.

The Sacred Heart Diet's 7-day diet plan:

Day 1 - eat any fruit you like except for bananas

Day 2 - you may eat all the veggies you want

Day 3 - as much soup as you want; consume plenty of fruits and vegetables

Day 4 - have all the skim milk you want and eat up to 6 bananas on this day

Day 5 - eat 1 can of tomatoes and 10-20 ounces of beef, and drink 5-8 glasses of water

Day 6 - you may eat all the beef and veggies you want on this day

Day 7 - unsweetened fruit juices, brown rice and fresh vegetables you want; eat at least 1 bowl of soup during the day; avoid bread, alcoholic and carbonated drinks
