What Makes Your Heart Sing?

Vibrating in Harmony

If you can hear at the end of this offering

music which has no note or sound

yet is made beautiful by art

though It sings all the same,

We may have just shared the song of the heart.

Writing is sometimes magical, a place of peace and solitude.

The space between the paragraphs can also be quite deafening.

Meeting me in the praise and criticism of others challenges my intent

It implores that I recognize the connection with another spirit, another time

Writing here, I leave a piece of myself, I place it in the spaces

Reading here, you pick it up, you touch me, you use me for a while.

I'm so happy to be right where I am...here with you, whoever you are.

If what I write settles within you forever or a moment, we have shared.

How thoughtful of you to give your time to the spaces between the words

and to the phrases that seem to mean what I say.

It isn't the words after all, but the energy behind them thrusting them forward

vibrating the harmonic tones of my thoughts and feelings and great-fulness

Seeing the Light

To Hub Readers, Fans and Friends

There is, I know, great value in expression, the penning our joy

There is, I know, a perfect pitch which hears its equivalent.

Yet, do the trees hear the silence of the wind?

The empty exhibition hall sells nothing, its advertisements fall dormant.

For those who give my thoughts, words and phrases consideration

You give me life and purpose and meaning. You fill the urn of my being.

Thank you, to each of you who invests with me in this trade of symbols and ideas.

Thank you for boldly caring to return the serve and volley over the net, for friendship and fun.

I don't know about time, it's all too nebulous for me.

But I do know I am deeply grateful for this set of moments we exchanged.

Thank you never seems to be enough, instead... I wish for you peace always.

And the freedom to experience the exhilaration of your most ardent dreams.

Ah...this was beautiful.

My heart sings when I'm at the ocean, river, mountains or lakes, holding the hand of my beloved husband.

It sings when I read beautiful thoughts and words like this, hear poetry read aloud, watch a sunset or sunrise or am enthralled by a great book or movie.

Thanks for sharing a part of your creative, caring self in this hub.

Voted up across the board except for funny.

As always, your Hub is uplifting and full of warmth. It is always a pleasure to read your work, and the "spaces between the words." When I first read your title, I was immdieately reminded of a line Ken Kesey repeats in Sometimes A Great Notion when Hank Stamper is really in the moment: "This is Hank's bell; this is Hank's bell ringing."

Actually, Born2care2001 came about as a result of my divorce in 2000. In 2001 I decided not to be the butthead I conditioned myself to be. This moniker was more about the man I wanted to be than the man I was. As a result of that decision I have changed. When we look at ourselves in the mirror we learn to see our real selves only when we choose to open our eyes. I'm still a work in progress and I am very, very grateful to be alive, loved and...Born2care!

Yes, my wife Sophia and I do adore each other and we're still working at it.

Thank you for your support and for your kind comments,

Hi Happyboomernurse,

Absolutely! Every one of those items you mentioned is worthy of a song. Maybe that's how God looked at it during creation! He was just making music!

Thank you for reading and commenting and maybe most of all, sharing the joy of life with all of us here at Hubpages!

Thank you La Thing!

I know you have experienced the awe of being a channel for the Source of All Being. I'm grateful for you as a fellow hubber and it's so cool to be a part of this craft which produces such joy and beauty!

Thank you!

Thank you xstatic!

I'm glad this hub warmed you and I'm really glad you commented because whenever you do, I learn something. I'll be reading Kesey's Northwest tale to help me appreciate the emotion behind this wonderful comment...or maybe I'll watch "Never Give an Inch" directed by Paul Newman!

Please accept my gratitude for the artistic way you interact with a fan of yours!

Glad you said that, since I have been wanting to get the movie and forgot they changed the name. I think you should read the book though to get the feeling of that "bell ringing" for Hank. As I recall they don't say it in the film. Lee Remick (very pretty woman) is in it too, with Paul.

As a fellow hubber I know you have experienced this hub within. It took me a long time to "know thyself" and it is quite freeing. For me though, there is an element inextricably bound to that part of me which is in the collective consciousness, that part which is connected to all who live. It just tickles me that some of them will actually read my work here.

I am truly grateful for your time and comments!

.....simply beautiful is your writing and so sublime are your poetic thoughts here - the title naturally caught my eye and 'what makes my heart sing' is how you moved me with these words ...... lake erie time ontario canada 9:29am and sending you warm wishes and good thoughts

I really appreciate the way in which you encourage your fellow hubbers. The style of the comment even inspired me. Hey, BTW is Lake Erie/Ontario Canada time synonymous with time Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon? (Chuckle) It sure sounds similar. (Hope you take that in the vein it was given. Intended to be a real compliment)

..actually I love and adore Prarie Home Companion on public radio and the late Robert Altman movie of the same name is a true classic and highly recommended and yes Garrison has 'that voice' - and so do you my friend - you are pretty special yourself - lake erie time 1:02 ontario canada and listening to one of the all time jazz greats: Thelonious Monk .....

Thank you so much for your beautiful words and thoughts. It is nice to read them and connect to them. You do much on HP to bring us together in realizing the importance of what we write. Each one of us has a unique and creative way of seeing the world and experiencing it. You do much to uplift our spirits. You are a voice in the wind.

My pleasure Suzette!

I am grateful for all the blessings life brings...Each day I open my eyes I am treated to more than I can imagine. Seeing the smallest part of life brings with it the recognition of all of the other beautiful parts and it is this recognition that hubpages and all of our fellow writers bestow upon me.

Thank you for your very kind comments!

Hi Fiddleman!

Or shall I call you neighbor? Thanks for reading my hub. I am truly grateful for your investment of time in me.

Are you a fiddler? How fabulous, if you are. Western NC is definitely the place to be for that and for the arts!

I'll reciprocate asap!

Thanks again,

There is nothing better than communing with other poets, savoring their uniques styles and being inspired by their words and in turn responding in kind through our own verses. Lovely words and thoughts. Great piece.

Thank you Robin,

I quite agree. Sometimes I sit in between the words, the sentences, the structure and I imagine I am in there with the author...being!

I so appreciate the reading and commenting.

Peace be with you!
