What is self discipline in life? Let it be your core!
Tsunami outraged Japan and it was pathetic to say the least when you saw nature destroying a country. But what amazed me was the neat queue everywhere when the people lined up to receive the help that came pouring in from everywhere. The people were courteous and there was no chaos anywhere. It was self discipline of superior quality.
Where does self discipline come from? It is your inner core of will power which makes you react with calmness even when you are facing hardships in your life. You are honest because of self discipline. You work in a bank and there are lots of money transactions and you never for once think of taking that money. Why is it so? It is because your mind is self disciplined to the fact that the money you are handling is not yours and that it is the money of the hard working public.
When you work there are lots of things that make you irritable and angry. But you do not react violently as you are self disciplined to co -exist in harmony with your colleagues. Without self discipline the world will be chaotic. It is when self discipline gives in that we see wars and conflicts.
Each and every sphere of your life needs self discipline. From the time you wake up and to the time you retire to sleep you inflict discipline in all your actions without thinking about it. The grooming of you also needs self discipline. You get up and have your bath and dress with utmost care to your work and if you do not have that discipline you might be leading a hippie lifestyle.
It is actually self control over your negative aspects that brings forth the positive side of you. Does self control mean lack of enjoyment in life? It is not like that, it simply means that you make your mind tuned to certain dos and don’ts in your life to give it a meaning and sense.
Watch the solar system. You see regularity in it, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west and every planet does its work with pencil sharp precision and this too is symbol of self discipline. We see tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and many natural calamities when nature forgoes its self control and it is havoc and destruction everywhere.
Likewise in human beings there are certain rules and regulations you must follow to make the society a livable place. Terrorists do not have any self discipline and they wrought destruction wherever they are as they are not bound by any regulations that a normal and god fearing person has.
Man becomes an animal when he does not follow the line drawn by the society he lives in. It is the self discipline which differentiates him from an animal. Honesty, hard work, humanity, humility are all some forms of self discipline. It gives you the much needed morale booster to feel satisfied with your life even if you face hardships in between.
When your core is disciplined you never waver in your thoughts and society needs this sort of self restraint from everyone for it to remain a peaceful place for co-existence in harmony and synchronization.
