Whey Protein Isolate - Part 7 - Top 5 Supplements & Conclusion

<< Part 6 - How Much Should I Take and When? <<

Now that you know the ins and outs of whey protein isolate, you might be wondering where you can get some.

There are a lot of different supplement companies out there that carry whey protein products, but I can understand if you want the most “bang for your buck”.

So let’s go over some of the highest rated whey protein isolate supplements out there.

Top 5 Whey Protein Isolate Supplements

Syntrax Nectar

Syntrax Nectar is one of the best tasting proteins out there, probably because they flavor it with fruit juices.

This supplement contains Promina, one of the highest quality whey protein isolates, and it contains no fat or carbohydrates!

You can get this supplement in sizes ranging from a single serving to 2 pounds and it comes in the following flavors:

  • Apple Ecstasy
  • Cappuccino
  • Caribbean Cooler
  • Chocolate Truffle
  • Crystal Sky
  • Fuzzy Navel
  • Lemon Tea
  • Natural Fruit Punch
  • Natural Orange
  • Natural Peach
  • Roadside Lemonade
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Strawberry Mousse
  • Twisted Cherry
  • Vanilla Bean Torte

This is one of the higher end whey protein isolate supplements, but if you want a great tasting, high quality protein then you won’t mind the price so much.

AST VP2 Whey Isolate

AST VP2 contains 100% Hydrolyzed Oligopeptide Isolated Whey Peptide Fractions, yeah that’s a mouthful!

But this is the whey protein hydrolysate I was talking about before; it’s precision engineered to enhance the absorption.

You can get 2 pounds of this supplement and it comes in the following flavors:

  • Citrus Splash
  • Creamy Vanilla
  • Double Rich Chocolate
  • Fruit Punch

This is another high end whey protein supplement, but it’s a very high quality version!

It’ll cost a little more, but if you can afford it then buy this for its efficiency.

4Ever Fit Fruit Blast - The Isolate

The Isolate contains a high amount of Branch Chain Amino Acids and has no added carbohydrates.

The whey protein in this supplement is cold cross-flow ultra-filtered and advanced micro-filtered so you’re getting a very pure whey protein isolate!

You can get this supplement in sizes ranging from 2 pounds to 4.4 pounds and it comes in the following flavors:

  • Black Raspberry
  • CranRazz
  • Green Apple
  • Lemon Ice Tea
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Tangy Orange
  • Tropical Mango

This is still a very high quality protein but the cost is a bit less.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard

If you’ve researched whey protein supplements before, then you’ve probably seen this same exact supplement over and over again. There’s a good reason why.

This supplement won supplement of the year AND protein powder of the year for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008!

Its popularity might be due to the blend of proteins you get with this supplement. It contains two types of whey protein isolates (micro-filtered and ion-exchange), ultra-filtered whey protein concentrate AND HydroWhey Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides! So if you were ever unsure about which type of whey protein to get, don’t worry this supplement has them all; from low end to high end.

This supplement comes in a variety of sizes from flavor packets, 1 pound, 2 pounds, 5 pounds all the way up to 10 pound containers! It also comes in a variety of flavors like:

  • Banana Cream
  • Cake Batter
  • Caramel Toffee Fudge
  • Chocolate Coconut
  • Chocolate Malt
  • Chocolate Mint
  • Coffee
  • Cookies and Cream
  • Delicious Strawberry
  • Double Rich Chocolate
  • Extreme Milk Chocolate
  • French Vanilla Creme
  • Mocha Cappuccino
  • Orange Cream
  • Rocky Road
  • Strawberry Banana
  • Tropical Punch
  • Vanilla Chai
  • Vanilla Ice Cream

For being such a high rated protein with such a good blend of whey proteins you’d expect it to be expensive, but it’s actually very cheap!

Gaspari Nutrition MyoFusion Probiotic Series

MyoFusion is another great tasting protein that actually contains no sugar or aspartame.

This is another protein blend supplement that contains whey protein concentrate, partially hydrolyzed whey protein, and whey protein isolate, brown rice protein concentrate, egg albumin (egg white) and milk protein isolate (80% casein/20% whey). This is a very good blend of proteins; add in some bacon and a glass of orange juice and you’ve got breakfast!

You can get this supplement in either 1, 2, 5, or 10 pounds and it comes in the following flavors:

  • Banana Perfection
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter
  • Cinnamon Roll
  • Delicious Vanilla
  • Cookies & Cream
  • Milk Chocolate
  • Strawberries & Cream

Another great tasting protein blend and it’s very cheap!

Great information thanks...would like to know, is whey isolate good at 6:30 am to get my 30g in 30 minutes, even though my work out is from 7:30 am ?

thanks!

That's not a horrible time to take it, Wannaloose... but a better time to get your protein would be right after your workout, when your body is really looking for some protein. So, if you really want to boost your muscle repair, then start taking it after your workouts.
