Whole Food Vitamins Explained

What Are Whole Food Vitamins?

It is understandable that in this crazy world we live in sometimes it is hard to get to the super foods your body needs. Taking supplements are extremely helpful, but be careful when deciding on which ones to take. The best option for your body if you cannot consume the actual food that contains the nutrients is to get whole food vitamins. Whole food vitamins are vitamins that were created from the actual food. The food is processed and broken down, and then made into a pill. Since the vitamin is made from actual food instead of chemicals it is easier for your body to absorb. You can read more about it in this article.

Natural whole food vitamins are very effective in the nutrients they provide. The bonus to these natural vitamins is that they provide certain nutrients that cannot be simulated in a daily multi-vitamin you take. Yogurt also provides these nutrients called probiotics. This is the good bacteria your body needs to keep your digestive track working regularly. This good bacteria is essential in the break-down of the food you consume. It also helps your body absorb the nutrients from the food you are eating, so your body can reap the full benefits of the nutrients in the food you eat.

Your body like any machine is built to work more than one process at a time. Due to the body needing to be able to fully function it needs a wide range of nutrients to keep it going. No food only provides one nutrients. If you ingest a food high in calcium, you need the magnesium also provided in that food to help your body absorb all of the calcium in order for your bones to receive the strength building the calcium provides.

Whole Food Vitamins vs. Real Food

Nutrients from real natural food is always the best choice when possible, but while we would all love to do this it is not always plausible. Lycopene is a nutrient you do not hear about to often. In order for the average person to receive the recommended amount of lycopene they would need to consume at least ten regular sized tomatoes everyday. Can you imagine eating ten tomatoes a day? Let alone the cost to purchase 70 tomatoes a week (but you can still check out all the benefits of drinking tomato juice if you go here). Plus that only fully takes care of one of the nutrients you need everyday. It is much more logical if someone can take those 10 tomatoes and make them into one convenient pill. Much cheaper to I may add.

Another downside to eating real foods versus taking whole food vitamins is the amount of calories you would have to consume in order to meet all of your daily requirements of nutrients. While you may be healthier in some aspects your body will be taking its toll on your health with all of the added weight.

A big concern about whole food vitamins are their cost. While they do cost slightly more than regular vitamins you receive more benefits than regular vitamins. This is an excellent situation of you get what you pay for. Your body does not absorb the chemical nutrients as well as the natural nutrients meaning you do not receive as many of the nutrients that the label leads you to believe from the over the counter vitamins. In important things like nutrients that build up your immune system this can cause problems. Problems that leave you more open to illness.
