Many people who had drank the tea claims that it provides the same energy boosting effect like coffee; without usual jitteriness side effect and thus reducing the amount coffee you are used to drinking. Yerba mate contains only 0.3% to 2% caffeine, which accounts for its stimulant effects are. Since the caffeine content is very low compared with that of coffee or tea, it has been promoted as a caffeine alternative, having chemicals different from caffeine.

The caffeine content is enough to keep your alert and attentive. It also helps in improving your mood and memory. Yerba Mate is effective increasing your metabolism, making your body burn fats easily and faster. Drinking the tea suppresses your appetite, making you feel full and eat less, however the tea provides your body will the nutrients you need to sustain a healthy lifestyle, which includes 24 vitamins, and 15 amino acids, making weight loss easy without losing the nutrients you need. Yerba Mate extracts had been used as a common ingredient in commercial fat burning products, as it slows digestion so that you stay full even for a long time. If you drink the tea regularly, it will also help in keeping lactic from building up in your muscle so that you will not feel tired or sore after working out.

Aside from the boosting energy effect that Yerba Mate Tea offers, it is also said that drinking mate tea also lowers bad cholesterol, keeping just the good cholesterol increase. The antioxidants and amino acids found in the tea, makes the fat and cholesterol pass through the bloodstream so that they don’t get stuck on one’s artery walls, preventing the hardening of the arteries and blood clots that may lead to stroke or heart attack.


Most critics claim that reported research on health benefits that Yerba Mate offers is not conclusive enough. Despite such criticisms that there is not enough proof to show how effective Yerba Mate is, Yerba Mate, when taken moderately, is still a good alternative for coffee for those who want intake caffeine.
