One of the first nationally-recognized health advocates, Dr. Paul Bragg helped bring natural health to the nation’s attention by advocating deep breathing, water fasts, organic food, juicing and exercising. Called the “Father of the Health Movement in America,” Bragg opened health centers in Los Angeles during the mid-1920s.
This theory comes from Paul Bragg N.D., Ph.D. This was written October 8, 2013. I have been doing fasting for many years but just read this book. From the book, The Miracle of Fasting by Dr. Bragg and his daughter Patricia Bragg N.D., Ph.D.: On page 139 it says "You have 9 doctors at your command."
First, I want you to meet the Father of them all, the most eminent and the greatest healer and giver of life to everything on the face of this earth . . . Doctor Sunshine.
He wrote this before they learned all this information (his daughter is the co-author) about vitamin D. In America the first and third leading cause of death is heart attacks and strokes. So cardiovascular health is very important to Americans.
By getting UV-B light around the hours of 11 AM to 3 PM you can get vitamin D from the sunlight when the sun is the highest in the sky. Vitamin D is great for cardiovascular health.
UV-A light works all day and it helps the body to create nitric oxide that expands the arteries helping to lower blood pressure if it is too high. So this is also good for cardiovascular health.
Moores Cancer Center proposes that cancer is a vitamin D deficiency so sunlight can help you to avoid getting cancer-- the second leading cause of death. See Autism and Cancer Caused by Vitamin D Deficiency.
Now I know how there is a lot of advertising about staying out of the sun or using sunscreen when you are out in the sun. But I can prove that this is done just to make tens of billions of dollars for drug companies. Sunscreen is a drug. What is worse than being depressed? That would be paying money to cause you to be depressed. The above article has a link to a Psychology Today saying that the increased rates of depression are caused by sunscreen.
Second Doctor Fresh Air
Depending on where you live, the fresh air may not be that clean but it is still better than the stale air inside of a building with the windows closed. You are encouraged to go outside and exercise in the fresh air, even if it is just a short brisk walk.
Third Doctor Pure Water
This is talking about pure water like distilled water or very good reverse-osmosis purified water. Spring water is loaded with pollutants and inorganic minerals. For more on this see, Drinking Water Can Cripple You or Make You Blind.
Fourth Doctor Healthy Natural Food
This is talking about food that is not processed (does not have an ingredient list). If salt is added to it in the package then it is a processed food. It is best not to consume any salt. Also the book encourages people to eat plant foods (about 65% of it raw) like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and mushrooms.
Joel Fuhrman M.D., another expert on fasting, suggests eating GOMBBS. It stands for greens, onions, mushrooms, berries, beans, nuts and seeds. Note that Dr. Bragg does not suggest eating any animal foods but calls it a vegetarian diet since he was around before the word "vegan" was invented.
Fifth Doctor Fasting
This what the whole book is supposed to be about but many of these things are interrelated. By fasting they mean to only consume pure water. They fast every Monday, the first 3 days of the month and every season they will fast 7 to 10 days. The books says:
Fasting not only slows down the ageing clock, but it produces a healthy youthfulness and rebirth in the body. In my years supervising fasts, I have seen thousands of unbelievable miracles happen to people of all ages.

Sixth Doctor Exercise
This book promotes exercises like brisk walking but also resistance training exercises like lifting weights. Jack Lalanne (in pictures) had an exercise or fitness class on TV before people would exercise.
Seventh Doctor Rest and Sleep
Under this section the book says:
Sleep is the greatest revitalizer, but so few people get a long, peaceful and refreshing night's sleep.
A body full of toxins is a constant irritant to all the nerves [hence the importance of fasting].
Eight Doctor Good Posture
Now the book does not suggest this, but I suggest doing yoga to help your posture. Yoga stretches and strengthens the muscles and it has performed miracles. Please note that on the fourth or last picture above it has a link to an article with a picture of the famous singer Katy Perry.

Ninth Doctor Human Mind
This is about using your mind to educated about health and using your will power to do what it healthy. You can put any food into your mouth and eat until you are obese and it will be fine with your body. In fact over 35% of Americans are obese and this rate is still growing.
So this means that some day it may be that most Americans are obese. So this is why the book stresses the importance of the human mind. Also stress is a killer and a destroyer of health. For an interesting contrast, compare this to Chuck Norris and 7 Pillars of Health.
