Over a 2 ½ year period I achieved a weight loss of 160 lbs. And, I’ve kept the weight off for over six months, which is something I’ve never been able to do in the past. I’ve always struggled with my weight, losing and gaining over and over throughout my life. Since I was only concentrating on getting the weight off as fast as possible, I ignored everything else that’s important in helping to reach a weight loss goal.
I started slowly, eliminating certain foods one at a time. As I did this, I felt better and better. Of course, this isn’t a surprise, but the transformation was amazing, especially after I gave up bread. Bread is my ultimate, dietary weakness, so I knew I had to give it up in order to achieve my goal. However, most of the physical ailments from which I’d always suffered began disappearing, and I wasn’t sick all the time.
Headaches, sinus infections, sore joints, colds, ear infections, rashes, yeast infections, and a multitude of other medical nightmares had plagued me for years, but that all stopped once I stopped eating bread. Then, while doing some research online, I accidently came across information on Celiac’s Disease. Eureka! I discovered what my problem had been all along; I had a food allergy to gluten. I had no idea I was allergic to anything, but it all made sense.
Because of this discovery, I’ve done further research into food allergies and experimented with my diet. Since then, I’ve also discovered that I’m lactose intolerant and hypoglycemic. So, I’ve had to eliminate many other foods from my diet, which allowed me to lose the weight I always had a problem losing and keeping off in the past. I now eat a very restricted diet, but I’ve never felt so amazing, healthy, vibrant, and clear-minded in my life. This accidental discovery has saved my life basically.
Not only have I achieved significant weight loss, but I’ll keep it off since I can no longer eat the foods that make me so ill. Currently, I follow what’s known as the Paleo Diet, which I discovered on the internet roughly a year ago. It’s exactly what I need to be doing. It’s perfect for me. And, that’s the secret to being successful; each individual has to find her own way, her own answers, her own plan to achieve weight loss.
