    Hello Ryan.
Very wise of you to ask!
I am very careful about my children,s health too!
Some advice that i would give applies to everybody really, but specially children.
A safe way to supplement is to make sure those supplements are natural and based around natural organic food products, or put simply,Plant based.
Store Bought, or "Naturally Inspired", products do not have the same effect and are considered harmful by some health professionals.
Using supplements made from food products are safer as this is a natural way of getting our supply of vitamins, minerals and phyto-nutrients, so Avoid Synthetic or Lab made copies, made for pennies.
The American medical Journals are recommending that everybody needs supplements, and i agree..take a look at my hub on Omega3.
Hope this has helped, do let me know...
    regards
    Donna

    Ryan,
When it comes to teens and supplements, my advice is to limit their intake to a GOOD daily vitamin/mineral.  Reason being is teens bodies metabolize food so efficiently that as long as they are eating a healthy diet of Proteins, Carbs, and Fats they should be able to maintain up into their late 20's. See my hub on building a balanced diet.
I have a nephew who is into bodybuilding and asked me about taking creatine for muscle growth.  Although it will help, on a cost standpoint it would not be needed.  Being 15 years old, I bet he could get massive gains just by being NEAR the gym, as long as he maintains a proper bodybuilding diet.
Yeah, I exagerate but it's practically what happens.  If they stay active and eat according to their goals, supplements can be avoided.
    Any other thoughts???
