Pass them on by. Use fresh fruits and vegetables and learn to cook from scratch; it really is not that difficult. Freezer and packaged foods are so tempting but once you realize what they are doing to you and your family it becomes easier to pass them by. You don't have to be a Chef to put together nourishing food.

Some packaged goods may be ok but you must be informed about ingredients and read each ingredient on package. It is better to pick plain old veggies fruit whole grain products. I always check for sat fat trans fat sugar and hydrogenated oils high fructose corn syrup on packaged foods. One good cereal is Kashi GoLean. Super foods are blueberries and almonds.

Perhaps investing in a big freezer will help.  Try preparing large meals on the weekends and then freezing the left overs in individual containers. This way you can reduce your reliance on packaged foods by having meals that are nearly ready to eat through out the busy week

Move the hell out of the cities and suburbs unless you have at least 1/4 acre of land. My grandfather has an 8th grade education, but was a genius. He raised all of his won vegetables and fruit on about 1 acre of land in the city limits. If you've got the space, get some chickens. Short of that, you're kind of screwed.

By eating more plant foods and sea foods smile

Personally, I eat non-cooked meals for breakfast (cereals and green tea) and fresh salad for dinner.

I also try not to buy canned foods when doing my grocery. I live near the supermarket though so I can get fresh produce everyday.

Having a garden planted with veggies would be nice but I don't think everyone can have that.

Growing your own vegetables is a great way to reduce dependency on artificial foods. I think you'll appreciate what you eat more if you grow what you eat.

Well heading towards a healthy lifestyle, you need to try and make some small changes like:
    1) include more of fresh Veggies n fruits
    2) choose healthy and handy snacks like sandwiches
    3) read carefully the nutrition labels on the packets to track your fat, sugar, sodium intake.

    All the Best!
