If by some unlucky chance you developed cancer, what treatment would you use?

I have heard of chemotherapy, Gerson's therapy, laughter therapy and there's also this chemical called dichloroacetic acid but if it were us in the cancer patient's shoes, what treatment should we get?

Personally, I believe in treating something holistically so I would go with Gerson's, Laughter Therapy and the experimental study on Dicholoacetic Acid.

But what would you take if you had to choose?

I've had cancer 4 times and have been cured with chemotherapy. If cancer ever comes back I would go with whatever treatment my chemo-therapist advises me to go with.  But that's just me. If you feel that Gerson's laughter therapy would work for you, then only you can decide yourself on which way to go.

I would choose something traditional like surgery and chemotherapy because I wouldn't  want to gamble and I know about those treatment methods! Besides that, I would work hard with my thoughts too, it is so important to believe that the treatment is working. If the traditional treatments failed I might try something else. Or, I know I would!

For benign cancer, surgery is currently most effective treatment. Chemotherapy is to use drugs, etc. to inhibit DNA synthesis directly or indirectly. It can be used after surgery, which I think is better. However, once the tumor has been developed into malign, I don't think there is constructive treatment. I would do something benifial as I can, and try to remain happy for the rest of life.

I don't know about the holistic approach Inani.
There were attempts some years ago to find the anti-cancer herbs by a Bulgarian specialist in bothanics and biochemistry. (Prodan Hristov)

He developed a herbal extract named antimalignocyt that was based on 2 very common herbs (peony and common mullein).

For some reason, 5 months of treatment with this cure were beneficial to some and did not help at all to others.

So I personally WILL try herbal remedy if I was having terminal Cancer, but in no case I would abandon the mainstream medicine when my own life depends on it.

Definitedly, going bald from chemo BEATS being dead.

I would go to get a full specification of what type and stage of cancer I was subject to, from the best cancer hospital I could find, then go onto cancertutor dot com to study the best alternative treatment.

I am fortunate in that a good friend of mine is one of the leading alternative cancer specialists in the (alternative) medical field, he was a normal MD and surgeon, but got fed up of treating the symptoms and elected to deal with the causes and cure rather than just treat.

His success rate is 75% for permanent cure, and that is after MOST of his patients have been told to go home and prepare to die after traditional treatments have failed.

One patient, given five weeks to live, is still alive 7 years later, and cancer free.

There are excellent hubs on alternative cures, however treatment does need to be tailored to the particular cancer type and stage of affliction.

I find that the Rick Simpson 'cannabis tincture' cure looks promising, as well as the 'habapeno chilli' cure.

Jerry Golden (just google) has a stunning testimony about how he was cured, it's all out there, albeit hidden and abused by BigPharma, but you can find the answers.

So my take is medical diagnosis (which white coat medicine is good at) then specific research, then decide on which treatment will best defeat the cancer.

Whichever course taken, the victim needs to change lifestyle and stop being cancer prone.

I chose surgery, chemotherapy and radiation and have been cancer free for almost 14 years now. I would definitely go the same route again.

I would seriously consider researching the expert feedback from Italian oncologist Doctor Tullio Simoncini, before opting for invasive surgery, radiation treatment and chemo therapy. I am sure we all know someone or have had a friend or family member struck down with cancer, and some even dying from it, not to mention the atrocities of the attempted cures, such as with  two cousins (brother and sister) who died a little over a three years ago of prostate and lung cancer. We also lost  dear friends and my mother in law to breast cancer before we knew about this natural treatment.

Therefore, before invasive surgery, deadly chemo and radiation therapy, check out the link below, of Italian oncologist, Dr. Tullio Simoncini, concerning "fungus" as being the real cause of cancer, and how easily it is being cured you will also understand a whole lot better, why the medical profession are turning a blind eye to this cheap cure:http://www.curenaturalicancro.com/

I've had cancer twice and did pretty well with surgery and some follow up chemotherapy. I have no expertise of my own so I rely on my doctors.

If I was told I had Cancer, I would not believe all the gloom associated with it, nor would I elect to have the treatments that weaken your immune system. I would use both, MetaMedicine and EFT, and I would survive.

This is not hypothetical for me. 12 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I went the traditional route (Just chemo. surgery and radiation were not options in my case). After six months of treatment I was much worse. I nearly died. I turned to a nutritional alternative, and I am alive and well. As a matter of fact, when I told the doctors I was refusing the Bone Marrow Transplant (a last resort procedure they recommended for me, believing it was my only hope) as well as any further chemo, I was told (in Feb 2001) that my life expectancy would be months, possibly weeks.
If I were ever diagnosed with cancer again, I would NOT consider doing chemo again. I would NOT even consider it for a second.
You can read all about my story here:

    http://www.amazon.com/God-Said-Not-Yet- … t_ep_dpi_1

I wrote a book about my experience. It is available in print (under $10) and for the Kindle ($2.99. I made it available for FREE last weekend and over 1,000 people got a copy for the Kindle. I plan to have a couple more days this month where it will be available for FREE for the Kindle. Check on Christmas Day.)

TRUER words have never been spoken. Poor nutrition and stress play a major role in cancer development. Even if you go the traditional route and your cancer is "cured," if you make no lifestyle changes, you WILL get cancer again. It will be explained that it is a different instance of cancer, but basically it is because the factors that led to the first cancer are still there making you cancer-prone.

I will listen to my body, if it reacts positively to the kind of treatment, then will go for it...Positive attitude and strong faith is still the best therapy.

In my experience of people with cancer - I take cancer patients to all forms of treatment - those who are positive have the best outcomes, whether terminal or not.  Laughter therapy helps a great deal.  Thinking in terms of the glass as half full rather than empty helps.

This article on the secret might benefit: http://shazwellyn.hubpages.com/hub/The- … ons-Belief

Lots of water and a healthy diet full of fruit and vegetables will compliment any treatment, thereby, stacking the odds in the favour of the patient. It helps to bring on a feel good factor.

If possible, some exercise close to nature helps.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are harsh treatments, so it is important to be and do the best you can for yourself in order to get through it.

If it were me I would definitely choose the alternative medicine route. I have seen the damage done by chemotherapy and radiation and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (thankfully I do not have any anyway).

There are so many alternatives. We get cancer when our immune system is compromised so, to me, adding more toxins into our bodies via chemo and radiation is only making matters worse.

I'm always happy to read about cancer survivors, however they were treated though. I do believe that for those who went the route of chemo and radiation, that it is your immune system that beat the cancer DESPITE those toxins being put into your body rather than because of them.

It's a matter of choice for sure. Definitely agree that positive thinking is a huge part of the healing process also.

I believe I would opt for non-conventional treatments.  Many advances in alternative cancer treatment have been evolving for years.  Europe has some interesting treatments that are claimed to be in the high numbers of success.  Also, most of these treatments are much more sympathetic to the healthy parts of your body.  Huge drug development corporations and the FDA, which is in bed with them, don't want us to know of the sager alternatives.  It would not be profitable for either.

I would try a combination of modern treatments and alternative medicine.  While doing research I found that meditation, visualization and exercises like chi kung and tai chi are supposed to help with a large variety of health problems including cancer.  From my experience I know they can improve my health.  I would also consult a doctor.  Most likely I would do chemotherapy and the alternative methods mentioned above.

tea? herbal i think, but if it's in dangerous stage, I'll go chemo. I heard Malungay(a local plant) does miracles...

I trust chinese medicines and herbal medicines more than western medicine. There are a lot of quacks, of course, so better be careful...

Since I have had to ;deal with cancer within the last 3 years, I speak from experience.  Even when you find yourself with cancer for a second time your choices can be very different.  Your options may be limited by the type of cancer you are faced with - do you have something there is no question needs to be surgically removed or is it some type of slow growing cancer?  I believe in researching my options and then selecting the least invasive that will do the smallest damage to my good cells.

In this day and age we have lots more weapons available to us to treat different forms of cancer.

Be informed and don't be afraid to ask questions.  Each situation is completely different.  Remember that each doctor has a limited knowledge and will generally try to push you to what they know.  It is difficult for any doctor to keep up on everything and still treat patients daily as there is only so much time in a day. In some cases you might still choose to do chemo but now you can also select endocrin therapy which has almost no side effects. Chemo has leukemia as a very bad side effect fairly often - it killed two friends of mine recently.

Remember when you are told that a certain treatment is recommended because that is what they do at that hospital that long ago the standard treatment for pneumonia or almost anything was to bleed the patient and we know how that turned out.

Bottom line, I would want to look at all my options and probably would end up selecting a mix.

It would very much depend on the stage of the cancer when found, and what type of cancer it was. Since traditional medicines have had some grand successes, I certainly wouldn't rule them out, however, since many people who die while on these treatments die from the treatment itself, and not from the cancer, I would really use it as a last resort.

In the meantime, I would follow older hollistic methods as well. Though I am not familiar with Gerson's therapy, I can not comment, however, I can comment that having seen the results as promising, in some cases more then chemo or radiation, I would drastically change my diet to low acidic or higher base foods, and be sure to increase my kangen water consumption. It has been shown in labs across the world, and in real studies that kangen water, or just increasing your body's ph level to around 7.5 to 8, has, in itself, cured cancer.

As well, I would invoke a series of chi gong exercises which have also proved to cure cancer without the use of any drugs or radiation.

Of course, if all that failed, yes, I would resort to conventional western medicine.

As someone who is allergic to allopathic measures, I would follow Alternative Medicine alternatives and discuss these alternative cancer treatments with my primary Alternative Medicine Physician. The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to find out all about the variety of cancer treatments allopathic and Alternative, and then make the choice that you personally feel will benefit you best for treating the type of cancer diagnosed. Suzanne Somers, a cancer survivor, has written books about surviving cancer through alternative means. Her books are well written, very insightful and informative. I do recommend cancer patients to read them.

I would start with the approach in "Cancer as a Turning Point," by Lawrence LeShan. Using a form of psychotherapy, he had a 50% complete remission of Stage IV cancer with his patients. (I live using this method, though cancer is one illness I have not faced.)

I would also strongly recommend books by Dr. Bernie Seigel, such as "Peace, Love, and Healing," and "Love, Medicine, and Miracles." He is a cancer surgeon himself, and creator of the ECAP (Exceptional Cancer Patients) program. He believes that people will have the best chance of healing themselves using whatever they believe will work.

My own methods would be primarily alternative and holistic, including prayer, meditation, diet, exercise, Qigong, etc. But that's me. I honor those who choose to include Western paths. My challenges are with infections, and I use antibiotics when truly necessary - including this week!

Here is one that helps everyone. Go outside or look out a window to the East as early as you can in the morning. Hold a clear glass with an inch of water in it up to the dawn light. Say, "Energy of the Dawn, Light of the Morning Sun, Angels, and guides, please fill the water in this glass with medicine for my healing."

Take three breaths, then say, "Drinking this water, I receive the medicine into my body and being," then drink the water.

Take three breaths, then say, "May my illnesses be healed and may I be transformed."

Take three breaths and say "Thank you."

I'd first buy Bill Henderson's book, ' cancer-free', then I'd take myself away for a couple weeks for some sunshine and stress relief...and obviously get tucked into that book which mainly focuses on diet and other alternatives to chemo...which according to many kills more cancer patients than cancer alone!

I'm not convinced that there is a medical cure for cancer - except for the surgeon's total removal of the affected organ or tissue - but since it would not be dangerous, expensive or addictive, I would start daily doses of aloe vera, ie., three year old leaves, freshly chopped down into a watery soup.
I have used aloe vera on skin blemishes and spots and am quite impressed with the results, in some cases where proscribed ointments made little impression.
Though that was external use, what works outside could well be effective internally as aloe vera is non-poisonous.
