What can cause dizzy spells besides low blood sugar and diet?
Occasionally, I have some dizziness when I stand and not sure if it would be helped by realignment of my spine. I know it's probably not inner ear related but am open to suggestions.
I have been battling dizzy spells for a very long time. There are so many things that it can be to be honest. Mine they think is migraine syndrome and low blood pressure. If you have normal low blood pressure, it can cause dizziness when you stand. I would get it checked out tho as it can be so many different things and you want to know if it is something major or not.
Dawn, I have considered low blood pressure as a possible source but my Dr. gave me an ok on that concern. However, I will have it rechecked when I see her again. Thanks for your suggestion.
Your inner ear can cause an equilibrium. Your lack of oxygen. Take deep breaths to get oxygen to the brain. Weak lungs can cause dizziness.
It can be so many things, inner ear, neck, head injury. My husband has horrible vertigo from an ear injury (sound). I would have it evaluated before leaving it to a chiropractor.
There are unfortunately quite a number of things that can cause dizziness as you say apart from Hypoglycaemia/diet and inner ear infection/disorder. High blood pressure or low blood pressure is one of the main ones, especially on standing up.
But there are also many viruses that have this affect. There are many medications that cause dizziness. There are also medical conditions such as Parkinson's Disease that can also cause dizzy spells.
Within the blood, a low oxygen level is often the cause of dizziness as is anaemia. Many people who suffer from depression and/or anxiety also experience dizzy spells. And the list goes on. But when you feel dizzy often you have been experienceing other symptoms. If this is the case then take a note of them and ask your health care practioner for advice.
I think Dawn may be right. It could have something to do with your blood pressure. My husaband has orthostatic hypotension. His blood pressure bottoms out when he stands up from a seated position. Have your doctor do a reading sitting up from a lying position and then standing up from a seated postion to see if this might be your problem.
I'm not a doctor, but as a fitness coach, I have worked with clients with orthostatic hypotension- a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing too quickly, stretching, and standing still after intense exercise. If your doctor is only testing your resting blood pressure, it isn't going to tell them anything about this condition. In some cases, orthostatic hypotension can be a sign of anemia as well. Try standing much slower, and engage your abdominal muscles ("suck it in") as you stand to somewhat control the blood rushing away from your brain and upper extremities. Make sure you are keeping well hydrated, and try to spend as much time standing as you can without feeling faint because your body slowly adapts. Also getting involved in a cardio exercise routine that increases your cardiac output will help control some of the symptoms- just make sure you never go from anything that increases your heart rate to a resting condition because you will be at high risk of fainting. Hope this helps!

What is the most common cause of dizziness? I have been suffering with it for about 3 years now and I have seen many doctors but no one can give me a definite answer as to the cause.

Heart problems and high blood pressure. What are the foods to avoid ?I have been told that people with heart problems and high blood pressure must avoid eating things that contain sugar. But which are these things? Is it possible to find a list with what you can eat and what you cannot?
