What are common food cravings and what do they mean?

Other than for woman that are expecting, what types of food do people most often crave?  What are our bodies trying to tell us?

They mean you are hungry. People crave chocolate, popcorn, fish, etc. They basically consist of your body telling you that you want to eat them. It could be a crutch. Women eat chocolate because it calms them. Caffine because it's addictive, to a frightening degree. Popcorn is actually a relaxation snack. Once you have popcorn, the body craves it from time to time.

Cravings or binges can tell you alot about what nutrients you are missing in your diet. Craving carbs could mean a defiency in chromium, serotonin which is derived from trytophan, omega fatty acids, or magnesium. Chocolate is usually craved during our period, because it raises copper levels, and copper raises estrogen, as well as the neurotransmitter, dopamine, the feel good chemical in our brain. Because with over processing, the benefical nutrients are removed, and if our bodies are not satisfied, we will keep on eating.

Most cravings have been linked to serotonin depletion. There is only one substance that can produce it, and thats trytophan.
