What is activated charcoal and what is it good for?
I have heard it is good for health?
Based on findings, activated charcoal are made by heating common charcoal in the presence of gas causing it to develop many pores. These pores help to trap chemicals in the body. Activated charcoal is used as a medicine to treat poisonings, drug overdose, reduce flatulence, lower cholesterol levels, prevent hangover, treat bile flow during pregnancy and so on.
Cool, I never knew all of that! I wondered why poisoning/overdose victims were given "charcoal" in the ER, but didn't know anything about it or your other examples. Thanks for commenting!
Activated charcoal is a fine black odorless, tasteless, nontoxic powder that is made from wood and other vegetable related materials including coconut shell. Activated charcoal is the treatment of choice for most emergency responses to poisoning and drug overdose. read more
Activated charcoal is a fine black odorless, tasteless, nontoxic powder that is given an oxygen treatment, causing it to become highly porous, and increasing its ability to absorb toxic substances from gases or liquids.
If you or anyone you know have ever ingested poison or had a drug overdoes and was rushed to the doctor chances are activated charcoal was used to arrest the toxins in the substance that was ingested.
