Any type of food in excess can make you fat however it must be taken into account that people generally don't eat thousands of calories daily from fruit. On the flipside, there are people who only eat junk food such as chips or candy bars and lose weight because they do not exceed the number of calories that they will not burn through life functions or exercise. Of course their internal health suffers.
All this being said, I don't think that anyone would eat thousands of calories from fruit on a daily basis to get fat. Fruit is full of water and fiber, two things that will discourage a person from eating enough to get fat.
