   I have what my Dr. laughingly calls "/White Coat Syndrome", which means any time I have to see him or go to the hospital, (once a year, max), i get myself in such a panic, Blood pressure shoots up sky high.  Now, even for only an office visit, and especially if I ever had to stay overnight, I'd grab a bunch of my favorite mystery novels.  I can get so into them,  the world "out there' just doesn;t exist! Blood pressure normalizes, and I am totally relaxed again.  I know most others will come up with slippers, nighties, etc,  for me, they're all a given.  My main anchor is a   mystery novel.

      It depends what you're in for - if you're 'nil-by-mouth' then a definite 'no I guess, but check out the hospital policy otherwise. Thanks for stopping by LadyLola ( you could maybe sneak a snack in though.....lol)

   I would need some excellent books to read; if I can get lost in books it would indeed take my mind away from any unhealthy compulsions/fears like catheter installation...

   My cellphone, tablet, Netflix subscription, airtime, music, not much else to do but lie there in the hospital and check out until it's over. The rest is details.

   Clean clothing for the next day and something to read. My laptop would be included if allowed. The hospital usually provides toothpaste and toothbrushes. They provide a tiny comb. If you are taking medications for something other than you are being treated for, sometimes they expect you to provide them yourself.

    I actually have a pre-made list of what I take since I could be rushed in at anytime. It includes toiletries, books, my own pjs, dressing gown and a set of clean clothes. The book and dressing gown are priorities though because the hospital provides pretty much everything else.

    Pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers, toilet bag (I much prefer my own to anything the hospital has!!). Book or magazine (reading glasses!), and my phone (media player part - with a movie or 2 loaded up, music too) and earphones. You can't expect much sleep, so it's best to have diversions like these. Change of clothes for home. Think that's it.
