How to get my husband to eat the right foods?

My husband is a very picky eater who eats meats and junk food only. Even though I cook every day he only eats the meat part never the sides. He is under weight due to a very physical job and his unhealthy eating habits aren't helping and neither is me telling him I wish he's eat better. He needs to gain weight and eat better. How do I get this through to him without being pushy.

I cook for a picky eater.  One of my favorite tricks is to sneak the healthy foods in with something he likes.  For instance, I might make a chicken pasta and throw in a few green beans or some spinach.  Usually, the greens taste enough like the pasta that he'll eat them.  You could also try looking up recipes for some tasty ways to prepare vegetables and other sides.  Even if it's a fried mushroom or zucchini or a cheesy potato, that might entice him enough to at least try it.  Sometimes opening up someone's mind is the first step.  Good luck!  smile

If you cook dishes where the meat is mixed in with the other stuff- vegetables, carbs, etc., then he will have to eat all of it. You could make him some protein shakes and mix in some veggies. He won't be able to taste them and will get the nutrients.

Some protein shakes are pretty gross, but I drink one daily that is almost like a milkshake. Both of my girls love them.

Mix fruits into the cookies or muffins. Disguise the vegetables in a dip. These are some ways to get your husband to eat healthfully while also enjoy what he is eating.

What ever you do do not try to change him. You married him because he is the way he is. Eventually most of them come around, but it takes a great deal of time and information coming from sources that are not you. My husband has the same diet. He is not under or over weight and does a physical job as well. I trick him with baked goods that have veggies in them. I use a cook book called Deceptivly Delicious you can find it on Amazon. It is my best kitchen secret!!! smile Good luck and enjoy. Remeber it is your little secret. wink

Thanks for the book tip. I would never try to change him, just want him to grow old with me!
