Good question. If we look backwards in time and read on people's beliefs and lifestyles, we'll confirm that the majority led simpler happier lives. [the majority that had food on the table and future jobs in sight]. Nowadays we work more hours, see our families less, receive less pay and pay higher bills. Technology is advancing and governments are telling us we need it whether we can afford it or not (economically and ecologically). Yes, my friend we DO need to slow down.

As to what I'll do. For one, use technology as less as possible and try to resort to natural methods and habits more.

We do need to slow down and smell the roses. Appreciate what we have and stop trying to keep up with the Jones's. Personally I am enjoying the simpler things like learning to Garden, spending more time with family and decluttering our house and lives from the overabundance of material things we seem to have thought we could not live without.

Drinking tea, it calms me down. Going on a bike ride, this way I get to sit back and think without too many distractions and center my brain. But the number 1 way for me to slow down is to go on trips to different countries, take lots of amazing pictures, purchase a few select trinkets, come home and put most of the pictures on the wall of my office. Even when I come home, the astounding sights I witnessed still follow and inspire me to do my best and enjoy life to the fullest.

Wait on the Lord in prayer and meditate upon HIS word.

Going to relaxing places like parks is a good way to slow down.  I like biking and hiking in large parks.  Bringing a camera with me slows me down even more because I slow down enough to take pictures.  I will spend time in natural environments to slow down and visualize relaxing places when I want to relax at home.

The answers to the questions show that many of us realize the need to slow down the pace of life. All the suggestions are good and practical and can be followed by us.

I particularly liked the comments of lone 77 star and I agree with him to a large extent. I will present my perspective of his views. I believe that every thing, person or situation needs due importance. If we don't give due importance to them, it means we are ignoring or neglecting them. What we should avoid is to give undue importance to them. Otherwise, they will overwhelm us and generate stress in life.

I will like to apologize lone 77 star because I have inadvertently deleted his answer to the question while commenting on it.
