i take coffee and tea to stay wide awake. I eat food that involves flour such as pita bread, pancakes. In addition, a good movie or drama to keep me busy watching. Anyway, HP kept me wide awake too.

You can drink peppermint tea, which stimulates the mind, but not the body as coffee does. Drinking too much coffee can damage your adrenal glands over time. You can also inhale peppermint, orange, or rosemary. To inhale, just sprinkle a couple of drops of essential oil (not fragrance oil) onto a tissue. For food, you can eat lots of fruit. It gives you the carbs, without the calories of breads.
A ten minute power nap during the afternoon can work wonders too.

    * Green Tea is a wonderful way to stay alert, hydrated, and healthy.

    * Nettle Tea will give you a lot of energy and vitamins.

    * Eat light & healthy. Too many starches, sweets, and dairy will make you feel sluggish and tired.

Hope these help and you have a wonderful day~

Take a ginseng supplement daily it gives steady, nice energy - not a jolt like caffeine. Also take a good quality B complex vitamin which also supports natural energy.  If you are not sleeping well at night, you need to address the reasons for that issue.

You can supplement at night with magnesium, kava, valerian, chamomile and some others.  If you are sleeping in a room with electronics (tv, phone, computer etc) turn them all off.  The light from them may be messing with your natural circadian rhythm. If you are stressed take some time to do some light yoga stretches or practice meditation for a bit to relieve stress prior to falling asleep.

If you are eating right and sleeping right, the body will get itself back into a natural rhythm.  Also light to moderate exercise daily can help boost energy during the day and promote good sleep at night.  Walk for 20-30 minutes or go for a swim in the summer months.  smile
