Yes, thanks for the question. 'If not you who, if not now when?' comes into mind.
It's great that you recycle all you can, even better to try not to create trash, garbage, rubbish, litter in the first place! That's a huge challenge these days.
On a global scale it look as if we're failing and failing badly. News reports of enormous islands of plastic out there in the oceans for example is very worrying. Greenpeace is making waves about this. They usually get some action started and I fully support them. I've donated to them in the past and hope to do in the future. They are active, they get things done.
Governments try but they're usually slow, or deceptive....(USA!! China!!!)
On a personal level I try hard. I hate seeing any kind of stuff lying around, just thrown away by people who have no idea, no clues about the damage waste can do to the environment. Locally there are good schemes around to increase recycling percentages - great. It needs to be done. I've been involved in one or two eco-communities over the years. They try to sustain nature in all its forms and farm the land without pesticides. Some of these people have very good ideas for future non-pollution lifestyles.
We can only do our best and try and spread the word.
