    Why do we feel itchy sensations?

    Why do we get "itchy" feelings on our body? Aside of allergy, rash, or irritants, why do we sometimes get a random itch?

    Well my theory which will sound bizarre, is that their there to meditate on....Try it, & you'll see what i mean....Lay there on your back at night meditating, & try not to itch the itch when it comes....I know that there's going to be a perfectly rational medical scientific answer as to why we get itches, but I'm into mindful meditating in a big way, & trying not to itch an itch whilst meditating keeps you concentrated....Amazing insights are to be had whilst meditating buddy. :-)

    Interesting question.  As I read your question, all of a sudden I had an itchy spot on my back LOL.  Maybe it was the thought of it, and then it truly started to itch.  It will be interesting to read the answers here.
