The absolute best way to prevent disease, flu, measles whatever is through meticulous personal hygiene without the overuse of sanitizers. People are hyper-sanitizing everything and that actually depletes the immune system over time.
Exposure to some germs is what builds resistance. My mother has been a nurse in a hospital for 30 years and the woman never gets sick. Also, people who are sick really, really need to learn to stay at home or if they absolutely can't they need to be mindful and cautious.
I see so many people who cough openly for example instead of into the fold of their arm. It's not only gross, it's incredibly inconsiderate, but people tend to not be taught proper manners or simply don't care.
We'll never be able to prevent outbreaks of illnesses. Vaccines are not 100%. Although measles can be serious, they usually aren't. I had it as a child.
I think people panic a lot when it really boils down to what can be done on a personal level. Stay clean, not overzealous with chemical sanitizers, practice good manners by coughing/sneezing into the fold of your arm - not the hands which transfer germs more readily. If you are sick - stay home.
