There may be several factors that bring about an anxiety attack. If one is claustrophobic, they might have an anxiety attack if they're in an elevator or closet. Some people have anxiety attacks if they're in crowded places such as malls. Others are just highly stressed, and may crack at the drop of a hat. Whatever the factor(s) may be, seeing a doctor about it is highly recommended.
What ever you fear in the moment of the attack or any fear that you have yet to face
Fear of death. It may not be the exact fear you have the moment before or leading up to your anxiety attack but in the moment of the attack there is a pronounced fear of death. You literally believe you're dying. I believe any fears leading to or causing anxiety attacks have to do with not being able to "handle it all", which leads to stress which leads to anxiety attacks. A certain amount of clausterphobia is invloved. A fear of not being able to "escape" your situation or exposure to stressors can make someone feel clausterphoic.
Some of the things that might be the basis of the symptoms are phobias. The relationship between phobias and panic attacks is quite close, because most anxiety attacks are in a sense a phobia. The fear and apprehension of having another attack is the on going fear of most people that suffer with panic attack disorder. And it is this apprehension of the impending attack that is in fact the cause. Many different phobias can also be the incubator for another attack. People can have many fears at an unconscious level, not realizing that these fears could be the cause of the attacks.
Anxiety attacks are primary the fear of a fear, if that makes sense.
You may have a fear eg crossing the road, leaving your house. You know you have this fear so your mind plays onit and makes the fear worse. Controlling the 1st problem can be the answer.
