If you are sedentary and it gets you to move more then the answer is Yes without a doubt. If you are very active already you'll notice a slight difference because of the different walking angle but nothing significant.
It will work for those who are not active who need something, anything to motivate them but if you are already active, it's interesting but nothing more.
Depending on your level of activity the answer will vary. Overall, it's not worth the expense but if it motivates a person to workout and stick to exercise, then it would "work" in under those conditions.
