Way back in the early 1960s an American author by the name of Vance Packard, wrote a book called "The Waste Makers." It was directed mainly towards the burgeoning Packaging Industry, and in it Packard predicted that, pretty soon, the world would be overflowing with rubbish. No one in authority seemed to take the slightest bit of notice. But then again, most prophetic writing of this type is ignored.
Ways to slow-down pollution: All packaging to be bio-degradable. The length of time each sort of packaging prevailed would need to be legislated for, and anyone who didn't comply with the legislation be hounded out of business. Repeat offenders, gaoled.
Way to reverse polution: A world-wide effort to gradually bring down human population, that is, negative growth, so that we eventually drop back from our present 7 billion to around 1. That way the Earth will be able to sustain us without being threatened by us.
