The nobles had a pretty good fare as far as food was concerned. To get a good idea from this information which is from actual recipes translated from English and European nobility documents. That shows exactly what the nobility ate.

And for the peasants, the plebeians. It seems if they lived near the nobles or had relatives in the kitchens they did not do too bad on the droppings or left overs from the unbelievable food the nobles ate. But if they were not lucky enough to have the noble's leftovers they probably had to eat anything they could get their hands on.
Usually that would be a porridge made of roots of one type of another. Remember that hunting on the nobles lands was usually severely punished.

Why do some vegetarians eat fish and eggs? I am a meat eater but have always curious about this. Wouldn't fish and other types of seafood be a meat? Wouldn't eggs be considered as an unborn chicken? I even know some people who claim to be vegetarians and eat chicken.
