Cure Constipation With Constipation Remedies

This article teaches you how to overcome constipation with constipation remedies. You will learn different methods to stop yourself from being constipated anymore.

Let me begin by saying that constipation is a very common problem nowadays and many people are suffering from it. Believe it or not, studies show that almost 50% of the population experience constipation problems.

I used to be severely constipated; I was only able to poop every several days, sometimes even a week. The truth is that a normal healthy person is supposed to be able to poop at least once everyday. If you are unable to do so, you are considered constipated and you need to find ways to relieve your constipation.

What is bad or dangerous about constipation? Well, our body system is constantly trying to get rid of toxins and waste and all these toxins and waste are supposed to be pooped out by you. If you are constipated, these toxins and waste would be stored inside your body and it is very likely that they will be reabsorbed into the bloodstream, this is when many problems can happen, such as acne, problematic skin, bad breath, body odor, headaches, rectal bleeding, hemorrhoids, fecal impaction, varicose veins, and septicemia.

Here's a long list of constipation remedies that can help you get rid of constipation. Try any of them and see which one suits you the best. Please remember that everyone's body is different. While some of these remedies work for others, they may not work for you. Therefore, try a few of them and see which one works for you the best.

Constipation Remedies #01 – The Apple Remedy

You must have heard of “An apple a day keeps the doctors away.”

Well, I don’t know if an apple is in fact good enough to keep the doctors away but I can sure tell you that this apple remedy can make your constipation disappear and give you a happy colon.

Simply eat apples! One medium apple has 4 grams of fiber! Remember what can cause constipation? A low-fiber diet! Therefore, including more fiber in your diet is the key to getting rid of constipation problems. Moreover, fiber isn't the only good thing about apples.

Apples contain pectin, which has the ability to soften your stools and encourage bowel movements. Apples are the best fruit for cleansing your colon and on top of that, they taste good! By the way, when you buy apples, you should always choose golden delicious apples, because they are the best for detoxing.

However, the most important part of this remedy is the time you eat your apples. You should ALWAYS eat your apples on an empty stomach! If you eat apples after breakfast, lunch, or dinner, your body will not absorb the nutrients of apples that good, because your body is busy digesting the food you ate not very long ago.

Therefore, the best time to eat your apples is right after you wake up! Eat at least 2 apples after you wake up and you will definitely have bowel movements before the end of the day. If you cannot eat apples in the morning, you can eat apples at least 2 hours after your meal.

Follow this constipation remedy everyday and your colon will feel so light and cleansed!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #02 – The Apple Cider Vinegar Remedy

If you have read The Apple Remedy, then you should already know all the benefits of apples.

Apple Cider Vinegar also has the benefits of apples. It also contains pectin, which can help you perform natural bowel movements and improve your digestion.

Simply add 2-3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to an 8 oz. of water and drink this mixture 3-4 times a day.

If you like, you can also add apple cider vinegar to juices. I recommend drinking this mixture on an empty stomach. It would give you better results.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #03 – The Honey and Lemon Remedy

This constipation remedy has a good taste to it. First of all, the two ingredients are honey and lemon.

Honey has a mild laxative effect and lemon can help your body release toxins. When you combine these two together, you have an amazing constipation reliever!

Squeeze a lemon and mix its juice with 2 teaspoons of natural honey. Then, add in 8 oz. of warm water and stir!

Drink this every morning you wake up and your colon will love you!

Note:
You can replace lemon with green tea! It works just as great!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #04 – The Aloe Remedy

Aloe Vera has been used as a healing herb for thousands of years. And aloe also has amazing cleansing and mild laxative effects. It is able to remove the fecal matter that is stored or stuck in your colon.

You can buy aloe vera from the store and mix two teaspoons of aloe vera gel with your favorite juice. Put the aloe vera gel and the juice in a blender and drink this mixture everyday in the morning!

If you think the above method is too troublesome, you can simply buy aloe vera juice and drink it as soon as you wake up on an empty stomach.

To get better and faster results, drink aloe juice one more time before you go to bed. Be consistent with this remedy and your constipation problems will go away in no time!

Note: At the beginning, do not try to drink too much because it might give you diarrhea. Start by drinking a little bit only.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #05 – The Fiber Remedy

Remember, the more fiber you have in your diet, the less constipated you are! This fiber remedy is simple and straightforward. Simply include more fiber-rich food in your diet!

Here is the list of food high in fiber:

Brown Rice
100% Whole Grain Oatmeal
Peas
Apples
Broccoli
Spinach
Nuts
Lima beans
Kidney Beans
Blueberries
Blackberries
Strawberries
Raspberries
Avocado
Carrots
Bananas
Oranges

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #06 – The Dandelion Remedy

Dandelion root can be used to make a mild laxative tea. The good thing about this tea is that it is not harsh to stomach. You can drink this tea up to 4 times a day.

Dandelion root has the ability to detoxify your system, especially the liver and gallbladder, and clean your blood.

Step 1 – Buy dandelion root
Step 2 – Boil it with hot water
Step 3 – Wait for it to cool down
Step 4 – Drink!!!

Not only does this dandelion remedy help you with constipation, it can also improve appetite and minor digestive problems.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #07 – The Molass Remedy

Before you go to bed, take 2-3 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses. The taste of molasses is a bit too strong and the smell isn’t very pleasant in my opinion. You may want to add it to fruit juice or milk.

Note: Molasses is high in calories! Do not use this remedy everyday. This remedy should only be used occasionally to relieve constipation.

Since honey is a great constipation reliever, you can also mix honey with molasses to get even better results.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #08 – The Coffee Remedy

Just like other remedies on this site, this one is simple too.

Simply drink PURE coffee when you wake up in the morning. This remedy works the best when you are on an empty stomach.

Why does coffee work for constipation? Because the bitterness of coffee, and all the other bitter-tasting food, can stimulate your digestive tract.

Note: This remedy ONLY works if you do not add anything to the coffee! That is, DO NOT add sugar or milk or anything else to the coffee, otherwise, this remedy would not work.

Also, do NOT use this remedy too often. Only use this occasionally to relieve constipation because it may cause diarrhea for some people.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #09 – The Sesame Seed Remedy

Sesame seeds contain a lot of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Not only does this remedy reduce your constipation, the nutrients of sesame seeds is good for your overall health.

This constipation remedy is also simple. Just eat sesame seeds as a snack. And it’s important to drink water as you eat the seeds.

Now some of you might be thinking “If sesame seeds are so good for constipation, I would just have to eat as much as I can to get the most out of it.”

WRONG! DO NOT eat more than half an ounce a day. Sesame seeds can cause irritation to your colon if you eat too much. But if you only eat a little, it’s GOOD for your colon.

Again, do not eat more than half an ounce a day. So why does this sesame seed remedy work for constipation? It’s because sesame seeds have the ability to soften the contents of your intestines and this will make elimination so much easier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constipation Remedies #10 – Water Therapy

After you wake up in the morning, drink 1.5 gallons of water as fast as you can. This would allow the water to help your body flush out all the unwanted waste and toxins. You should be able to feel the need to pass a stool within 30 minutes. It does not matter how severely constipated you are, drinking 1.5 gallons of water as fast as you can on an empty stomach would force your body to cleanse itself.

This method may sound easy but it is extremely hard to do. When I first did it, it made me feel so terrible because drinking 1.5 gallons of water was NOT an easy thing to do.

Try it and see if you can stick to it. Besides curing constipation, water therapy can also provide a long list of benefits, one of them is making you stay energized throughout the day. I have a friend who has been doing the water therapy for a long time and he said it makes him feel great.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, some of you might have a busy lifestyle and simply do not have time for any of these remedies. And I totally agree with you. Some of the constipation remedies in the list are very troublesome, such as the Water Therapy.

Therefore, if you have constipation problems and you want to get rid of your constipation easily and quickly WITHOUT using any of the constipation remedies, then I strongly suggest you take a supplement.

Here is a list of supplements that can fight constipation:

Solution #1 – Fiber Supplements

Fiber is essential for curing constipation. There are two kinds of fiber, soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.

Soluble fiber attracts water and it sooths the digestive tract. It works by absorbing excess liquid in your colon so your stools wouldn’t be hard.

Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and it moves bulk through the intestines. It helps removing toxins from your colon. In other words, it can literally scrape your colon.

You simply need both soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.

Fiber Supplement #1

Super Seed by Garden of Life

This fiber supplement contains both soluble fiber and insoluble fiber and it is 100% vegetarian and 100% natural. It is easy to take as well. You just need to mix one scoop with any food or beverage like smoothies, yogurt, or juice. This supplement also tastes good. It is a supplement that can definitely work for constipation.

Here’s a review from a constipation sufferer who has tried this supplement:

“This is one of the best fiber supplements on the market. Not only does it include both soluble and insoluble fiber, it also includes beneficial probiotic bacteria and on top of that tastes great. Each scoop of Super Seed contains 7g of fiber from whole foods like flax seed, chia seed and legumes. On top of that, since it’s a whole food fiber, it also adds nutrition to whatever you mix it with in the form of protein, vitamins, minerals and beneficial fats from the flax seeds(omega 3).”

Fiber Supplement #2

Heather’s Tummy Fiber POUCH Organic Acacia

This is another fiber supplement that also works wonders for people that are constipated. One teaspoon of this supplement contains 4 grams of fiber! That’s a lot! Like the first constipation supplement, this one is also taken with liquid. Simply mix it with any liquid you want and drink it. It’s very convenient.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution #2 – Probiotics Supplements

Probiotics are bacteria that live in your gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics are valuable bacteria that assist in sustaining the balance of microorganisms inside your system’s digestive tract. The average human digestion system contains about four hundred types of probiotic bacteria, and they all serve to prevent the growth of dangerous bacteria, additionally they promote the health of the digestive system.

These bacteria do many good things for your body. Their main task is to help you with digestion. If the food you eat is digested more efficiently and more effectively, constipation will disappear on its own. However, most people that are suffering from constipation do not have enough probiotics in their gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, you would need a probiotics supplement.

Probiotic Supplement #1

Align Digestive Care Probiotic Supplement

This is the #1 selling probiotic supplement right now. It helps you build a healthy digestive system and cures and prevents constipation at the same time. This supplement is even more convenient than the fiber supplements. It comes in capsules and you only need to take one capsule a day. You might need to take 2 capsules if you are constipated in a severe way. Even though this product is not specifically designed for people that are constipated, but it would still be effective in getting rid of your constipation problems by improving your digestion of foods. When foods are digested well, you will less likely be constipated.

Probiotic Supplement #2

Enzymatic Therapy – Acidophilus Pearls

This probiotic supplement is also suitable for getting rid of your constipation problems. It provides support for healthy digestion and intestinal function. Just like the above supplement, it comes in capsules and the capsule contains more than enough beneficial probiotic bacteria for your body. This supplement is taken with water or any beverage that you like. Since all our bodies are different, do not expect these supplements to work instantly because for some of you, it might take a bit longer for you to notice the effects of these constipation supplements. So if you find yourself still being constipated after taking the supplement, wait one or two more days and you will be seeing results.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution #3 – Laxative

Here I recommend two natural laxative supplements. They are natural, which means they are not harmful to your digestive system. But if you take it too frequent, laxatives can still do a little damage to your body. Laxatives are meant to be used every once a while, not everyday. Please remember that.

Laxative Supplement #1

Senokot Natural Vegetable Laxative Ingredient, Tablets

Senokot is known for using a natural vegetable laxative ingredient. That is, this product is natural and by using a natural laxative ingredient, it will not be harmful to your colon.

Furthermore, this natural laxative ingredient has been proven to work by 50 clinical studies. This alone should be able to give you a lot of confidence in this product.

If you have trouble having bowel movements, Senokot is the perfect solution for you. Simply take it before you sleep every night and this product will gently get rid of your constipation problems. This product claims to get rid of your constipation in 6 to 12 hours.

If you have hard dry stools, you should buy the product below, which is the same as the original Senokot tablets but with a stool softener added.

Laxative Supplement #2

Senokot-S Natural Vegetable Laxative Ingredient Plus Stool Softener

In this product, Senokot added a stool softener in the tablets and this makes it perfect for people with hard dry stools. By taking Senokot-S Plus Stool Softener, you will no longer have stools that are hard and dry; you will no longer have to force a hard stool out, which can cause extreme pain and rectal bleeding.

If you are wondering, docusate sodium is the name of the ingredient added to this new product. It is basically an ingredient that can hydrate and soften hard dry stools.

Again, this new product works the same as the original Senokot tablets. In fact, this product should be even better than the original Senokot tablets since it added a stool softener ingredient.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution #4 - Stool Softener

Most people who are constipated suffer from hard stools. That is, they feel pain whenever they are trying to pass a stool due to the fact that their stools are rock hard. If you are one of these people, you can try a stool softener. It would help you pass a stool smoothly without pain. Here are three stool softeners that I recommend.

Stool Softener #1

Member’s Mark Stool Softener 100mg Capsules

I rank this stool softener as number one because I have personally tried it and can guarantee you that it works VERY well. Maybe it’s because I was born with a bad digestive system or something, I have always had stools that are hard and dry. This was the stool softener I bought after reading many good reviews of it.

It is super convenient also. You just need to take one or three capsules a day. It claims to help you produce a bowel movement in 12 to 72 hours, but I had a bowel movement in under an hour after taking it the first time.

This stool softener is a must get if you want to get rid of your hard stools.

One last thing, this stool softener is very cheap. By paying 10 dollars, you are getting a bottle full of 400 capsules!

Stool Softener #2

Natureade Stool Softener Laxative Tablets

I am recommending this stool softener because it contains natural qualities. You should always look for supplements that are natural because if they are not, they can have a harsh effect on your body.

Since this supplement is natural, it will not make you depend on it. You would only have to take this supplement for a week or so and your stools will still be soft after you stop taking it.

And if hard stools come back, just take a few tablets and problems are fixed. Convenient isn’t it?

Stool Softener #3

Dulcolax Stool Softener

This is the best selling stool softener on the Internet right now. It is also known for containing #1 doctor recommended stool softening ingredients.

Here’s how this product works. It helps your stools attract water so when you actually try to pass a stool, the whole process will be smooth and comfortable. You start by taking 2 liquid gels a day and after about a week, you lower the dosage to one liquid gel.

There you have it.

It really isn't that hard to get rid of constipation from your life. Try one of the constipation remedies or one of the constipation supplements I recommend and you will be seeing results very soon. Good Luck!

I have been having VERY bad constipation for the past weeks and I REALLY want to get rid of it. I bought enema (brand-Fleet) to make it come out softly, but it just cleared my system in a harsh manner. I want to go like a regular person, any suggestions??

Hello Nikki, I do recommend using the enema every once a while but I definitely do NOT recommend anybody using it daily. Have you tried any of the constipation remedies in this article? If you are not interested in any of them, then I suggest you include lentils into your diet. My favorite recipe is lentils and rice. Look it up on Youtube.com, you can find tutorial videos on how to cook lentils. It's simple and delicious. Best of all, lentils are extremely high in fiber and protein and other nutrients. And if you are lazy, try one of the supplements that I recommend in the article, such as align probiotic.

I've suffered from severe constipation all of my life and most recently my doctor sent me to see a dietician and she suggested eating Bran Buds, a cereal product available in most supermarkets, every day. Just 1/3rd of a cup of Bran Buds contains half the daily recommended fibre intake. So it makes it easier to meet the rest of the fibre by eating fruits, veggies, and whole grains, and plenty of water.

It helps a lot. I find the incidence of constipation reduced but you must drink lots of water throughout the day!

Yeah, I agree that high-fiber cereals can provide excellent results for constipation sufferers. And yes, if you are on a high fiber diet, you must drink a lot of water because fiber and water work together. If you eat a lot of fiber and drink little to no water, you will continue to be constipated.

Hello,

Has anyone of you tried taking 100% herbal anti-constipation powder for constipation? If not, than let me know. It is much better than taking different medicines or laxatives. I have people who had been suffering from constipation from more than 20 years and today they are fine. If interested, you can email at varun07@hotmail.com

I had to comment about the water recommendation when I came across these reviews looking for information on Align -- please don't try it. drinking a gallon and a half of water all at once can throw your electrolytes lethally out of balance -- look up electrolytes and water on the internet (I look up stuff like this as journalist). A few years ago, a couple of women died from drinking similar quantities as a weight-loss aid. More recently a child died -- I think in Colorado -- after taking Ecstasy on her 15th birthday for the first time. The ME determined it wasn't the Ecstasy that killed her (it wasn't tainted, which isn't always the case). She was dancing and Ecstasy made her thirsty, so she drank way too much water.

Same thing happened to a marathon runner, I think in New York. It's the reason athletes drink Gatorade and similar -- to replace the electrolytes the lose in sweat.

If you really must flood your body with water, stick it in the other end where it will really do some good and be far less unpleasant than drowning yourself, once you get over the ick factor.

I eat a lot of fiber but I don't drink a lot of water. The reason for this is that when I drink too much (12 or 16 oz or more maybe even less) I don't feel right. It's easier to drink some orange juice or coffee or something with sugar or maybe something else mixed in. I've even tried the super seed and went to the bathroom like about 7 hours later but I did include water and coffee and some orange juice I think after that. This was at night after dinner around 7pm. However after using it for the next few days I couldn't get the same results. I don't know if it was lack of water or juice or what. I also thought it could be tied to the fact I had not eaten enough during the day because sometimes eating more seems to help. Sometimes eating a variety of things (legumes, meat, oatmeal, toasts, fruits and vegetables) plus some milk, water, vegetable juice (or maybe ensure) seems to help but that can be hard to incorporate all in one day. I guess the remedies above might help although I've tried a few at one time or another and got results but sometimes not. So for example when you say have an apple right after waking up is that what I should do as opposed to when I have had an apple an hour or 2 after waking up then maybe some oatmeal 30 min later or less. It also seems to help if I eat a very early dinner say around 3pm. However usually when I do this it amounts to 1 1/2 meal for that day maybe. Do you have any suggestions that would help me be more regular?

Thanks

I'm glad someone pointed out the danger of drinking so much water! Please don't do that. It's a ridiculous idea and I can't imagine where the author got it. I think that section should be removed. As Amy pointed out, too much water can actually kill you. Even a gallon can do it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication

For information about fiber, if anyone is interested, try checking out a book called "Fiber Menace." I recently came across it and was blown away by how it debunks something that "everyone" believes. Here's a link to the first chapter:

Having gone to nursing school, the recommened way to not have constipation is to follow the doctor's advice of drinking 8 glasses of water a day. That for the record is 64 ozs over a 24 hour period. DO NOT DRINK 1.5 GALLONS OF WATER AS FAST AS YOU CAN BECAUSE YOU WILL DIE. YOU NEED TO REMOVE AND CORRECT THIS LETHAL MIS-INFORMATION

These are all great tips for relieving constipation but to me apple is the best. I used to hate apple before but one day it just happened that I try eating apples first thing in the morning (2 pieces) with empty stomach. And you know what, 'nature call' happened later in the noon. And to confirm this, I have tried it for two weeks and I did have to go to the toilet everyday! The best!

Oh my GOD, VERY irresponsible advice!!! NEVER NEVER NEVER drink a gallon of water or more as suggested by this clearly NON-professional. You can actually die, yes, DIE from drinking so much water. This is horrifying. I registered just to point this out, before this article-writer kills somebody with this old-wives-tale type of "advice." NEVER REPEAT NEVER drink a GALLON OF WATER FORCEFULLY, IN ONE SITTING!!!! Lethal!!
