Don't know but I do it all the time. I'm not lonely, in despair or planning to take over the world. I think we all talk to ourselves. Surely you talk to yourself in your own head. Its the same thing but some of us just let it out.

Why People talk to them selves?  Most talk to them selves to figure out if they are doing is right or wrong in certain situations.  It is just like reading out loud it best to understand it better.  You can understand it much better, especially when doing homework assignments and figuring out a math problem.  Some talk cause there is no one to talk too.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking yourself questions. Even going as far to sound out the words, so you can hear the question as well.

The thought of the question is not enough sometimes, to bring the answer, so one must hear it in sound form, so something can trigger the recall of the answer from within. If you lack knowledge in that area, then you will not be able to answer the question. If you lack wisdom as well, that will hamper you to answer it too.

    Just a thought.

I really do talk to myself.  I think it's harmless.  It's a weird habit, though.  Once in a while, when struggling with something on the computer and getting a little exasperated, I can use language not fit for say, a coworker to hear, and have to watch what I'm saying out loud as opposed to what I'm saying to myself...

Sometimes you're right, Cagsil, you have to verbalize the question in your mind in order to put it into conscious context.

  33. Cagsil profile image71

I think it is related to the way the words sound that allows/helps one to get an answer. wink

talking to yourself, is the shortcut to writing it down. Like cagsill said, working ot out outside of your head.

It's a whole lot less lonely talking to myself knowing there are THOUSANDS OF HUBBERS out there, doing the same thing.  Or at least one or two...

I'm not crazy, it's just a point of view...

what kind of crazy?  harmless to talk to yourself, unless you are berating yourself or plotting to overthrow the government or conspiring to kill your cheating husband.  if any of that is going on then that may be wrong and dangerous too! big_smile

    1. Paradise7 profile image71
Paradise7posted 13 years agoin reply to this

That's true, I didn't think of that.  Though if you want to kill your cheating hus.  you have my permission to talk to yourself about it, at least!

  43. karent profile image60

I tend to talk to myself just to work things out.  At times, the conversation is going on inside my head and at other times, I have it out loud.  It's not that I think I'm some other entity, just that sometimes it helps to say things out loud.  Some ideas are easier to sort out that way.  On the other hand, I worked with a lady who talked to plants, furniture, cats, and just about anything else she was working with or working on. I admit I've cussed out my computer before, but I've never had a discussion with a plant about how they like their location in my office.

I don't have a cheating husband.  In fact, no one hears me talking to myself.  I don't know why I'm even talking about talking to myself! big_smile

The reason why i talk to myself is because no one ever listens to me! I don't actually talk to myself, I talk to the cupboards, the chairs and the stupid computer when it breaks down, no, that's swearing at the computer! is that the same thing?

  46. SoftCornHippo profile image61

I don't never talk to myself cuz there's always plenty of people to talk to.  Also there's the dogs, we have the best conversations.  I barely even ever come here to the forums to talk to you guys cuz I'm so shy.  When you're shy like me, you're even too shy to talk to yourself!  no lie. big_smile

i talk to myself often-probably because I am the only one that is willing to listen to all the random things that come out of my mouth. Besides that, there is no drama or rumors started about anything I say, if I am my only audience...  big_smile

Yes, but in life-I am often the only one who finds my thoughts interesting and amusing  ;D, perhaps that is why I found HP... reinforcement that I am somewhat interesting (even if it is only in the cyber world)
